Topic: What are Appeals?

Posted under General

I've been lurking a bit on the new site, and this feature, Appeals, appeared on my Profile info.

I curiously tried it before asking, and I still don't know what it does. What is it?

Currently it's way to put up text next to flag/deletion so that staff can see it without blowing up the comment section with irrelevant text, however currently it doesn't see much use as appeals cannot be resolved on deleted posts at all and they aren't monitored by anyone.

It has been useful with flagged posts.

Thanks.

So, with the example I provided, the next step is to just go to the mods to restore it?

No, because like I said, nobody is moderating these right now, at all, so most likely nobody is ever going to see that.
Also if the post is deleted, it will with extreme likelyhood stay deleted unless it has been accidental.

So, there's no way to restore or reupload it?

The system up to this point has been to dmail the handler of the post or head admin NotMeNotYou directly and this hasn't changed.
If you want something restored, that's still the method and that's still unlikely unless mistake has been made. Reuploading deleted content is still uploading abuse.

Okay.
Thanks.
