Topic: How can I tell what was deleted?

Posted under General

Having uploaded over a thousand images, I keep close tabs on what has been deleted as it generally indicated either something was inappropriate, or something was updated.

Just now, two of m submissions were deleted, however, in the new site layout, I no longer see deleted files at the date they were deleted, but rather, the date they were uploaded. This makes it impossible for me to tell what was deleted.

Is there ANY manner to sort deleted files via date of deletion?

Account>My Profile>Deleted Posts

It brings up a list of all your posts that have been deleted, in reverse chronological order (newest first), though you won't be able to view the actual images. You'll just have to try and guess the best you can, what each one was, based on tags, source, etc.

You said it was just now, but I checked through the mod actions and none of the posts deleted today were yours. Either that was a malfunction on the page, or they were deleted yesterday.

The mod actions on post deletes could help you find the posts that were deleted and yours. It registers any any deleted post, no matter the time frame (IE, a post from 23 days ago shows up as deleted yesterday).

That doesn't seem all that helpful compared to the old deleted posts index. You were able to narrow the deletions down to the uploader, which was the default given for the link on the profile page, IIRC. Unless I'm missing some feature for specifying the uploader, the only way to find a particular post deletion with the mod action index is if you already know the exact post ID or time of deletion for said post. In such a case, you wouldn't need to use the mod action index to search for it in the first place.

If you only had a few dozen posts, it would be quite obvious what posts were deleted. If you have hundreds or thousands of posts and you noticed that your count of deleted posts increased, how would you be able to figure out which post was deleted and the reason why, especially if it was an old post?

It was simple with the old deleted posts index, since the most recently deleted post would be at the top along with the reason for its deletion. I don't know how the same functionality could be achieved without recreating the deleted posts index. The mod action index lacks the ability to focus on individual uploaders, greatly limiting its effectiveness in informing users of post deletions. The staff member who deletes the post could notify the uploader themselves, though that doesn't really seem feasible.

I wasn't implying that this was as helpful old deleted posts index, I was saying that this could help them. Something's better than nothing, since it organizes by deletion date rather than by upload date. That recently deleted post should have returned there no problem, the fact that it didn't is odd...

*edit* https://e621.net/posts/876273 is the earliest post that was deleted under them. Yes, I did brute force my way through all of their deleted posts. It would have been faster if I used my suggestion, but I would still need to brute force through until I reached that post...

I miss-spoke and meant to say "recently" as my count was at about 288 or 289, but it's recently shifted to 290 and I am having a hard time finding what the most recently deleted upload has been since the update.

Honestly, while the dropdown menu for tags is nice, the site has largely been inferior on many other fronts and has been made far more difficult to use than it was previously.

I think this is being worked upon as we have instructed in past for users to click on deleted posts on their profile to see their posts which have been deleted recently to know why. Also managing uploads becomes kinda nightmare if there's hundreds of deleted posts.

You can't exactly look at it like that, considering that the whole website is brand new now, so even the things that are the same are new and similar simply because it was worked to be similar. I remember on internal beta it took weeks to have many things how they used to be on the old site, even the layout that is still used currently was straight up white and all that has been done to it is essentially just drop e621 native colors on that white template.

Oh. Well that would explain a few things.
