Topic: Question regarding relevancy of Shyguy/Shygal pictures

Posted under General

Im a bit confused on what seems to be the deal with the approval, or rather rejections, of a lot of recent uploads involving shygals.
it seems to be very arbitrary with their removal despite being non-human creatures. They may not be furry in the most strict sense, but it seems to be that pictures fitting the "no human only" rules are still being declared non-relevant to the site.

For example, this image of jenny dressed as a shygal is deemed not relevant: https://e621.net/posts/3280316
yet this image of by the same artist of the same character, though in a different outfit, is deemed relevant: https://e621.net/posts/3280290

Im not sure if Im missing some specific qualification here or anything like that, and thought I'd bring it up.

moderation of images on this site is very strange
two images of the same character may result in one being "not relevant" and the other getting approved

Hi, I'm one of the people who deal with approvals.

post #3280316 appears to depict a human wearing a mask, which is not considered relevant.

post #3280290 appears to depict a robot, which is considered relevant.

The character and artist do not influence how relevant a post is. Only what can be seen in the image is taken into account.

You can read more about the subject here.

Taking a look at some older, grandfathered posts so that I can actually show off an in-site example:
The first one shows movement of the mask, while the second one does not. Different staff can have different opinions on the first case, but if the approver sees it as a proper face, it can be approved, but if it's seen as just a mask, it'll be seen as a human in a mask.

It just seems like a specifically inconsistent issue with this character type (and other cases of humanoid characters).

according to the linked article a difference of skin color for humanizations is not enough to qualify, but posts that don't even meet that requirement remain as approved such as here https://e621.net/posts/1957951
Characters from the my little pony franchise are approved under the merit of their character, despite what can be seen in the image not following the guidelines. i.e. the only difference from a human being skin color. One only needs to scroll maybe a page or two before a post like this pops up and is already approved.

If there requires some degree of movement/emoting of the mask, why do posts like this https://e621.net/posts/2351237 get removed?

If there only needs to be some small anatomical difference, then why is a post like this https://e621.net/posts/3112377 seen as not ok in this regard?

Its a baffling amount of sudden scrutiny when it comes to more niche cases like this.

That one says it's a repost of post #529494 which was posted 7 years ago, before the rules changed. Image was grandfathered in as a result.

Like I said, this depends on the approver.

That's odd. That one does seem to have ears/horns. I do notice that it was removed by Cane, possibly in a bulk removal of shyguys.

Actually, both of those were approved by Millcore before Cane751 deleted them, which shouldn't be happening.
