Sometimes it's easier to just use a term that's aliased to another rather than the "real" tag. It's a lot easier to type hetero than male/female.

I generally search for wolf_link rather than link_(wolf_form), to the point I've occasionally consider actually proposing to reverse the alias direction.

why type out the full words when the single letter paring shortcuts like m/f exist?

I still use the old pre-rename gender shortenings when tagging since that's what I'm used to (ex. d/p/c, d/f, etc.), also they're very slightly faster since it's d/* vs gm/* and c/* vs. am/*

Similarly I often search yaoi and yuri instead of male/male and female/female

but like, the M key is right next to the / key, typing m/m is so quick.

the / key is out of the way lol, I have to break up my usual typing position to use it

If you use home row, it's just diagonal from the pinky

Shemale instead of gynomorph, for brevity and out of habit. 3d and PoV, as stated above, for similar reasons. I imagine a lot of aliased tags get used for the length factor.
