I liked it when the Trending Tags column showed me the most used tags in the current search. I'd use that for a YouTube-style web hop to jump between related topics for a casual browsing experience, or I would use it with the wildcard to find out what tag combos there are (like green* to discover green hair, green eyes, etc.)

You can't, that's how the site was updated

You can't. We had to change it because it was a resource hog :(

I plan on fiddling around with doing it via javascript, which would bring back the old behavior with no additional server load, but would only show the most popular tags from the first page of results (or whatever page you're on).
