Topic: Where in the world is e621

I'm using Firefox with Flagfox, an add-on that "displays a country flag depicting the location of the current website's server":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flagfox/

Here's what it tells me about e621:
Domain Name: e621.net
IP Address: 190.93.255.70
Server Location: Costa Rica

I don't know if this is the actual location of the e621 server, or of the DDOS protection service it uses.

If you use Firefox, please install Flagfox and post the information it displays for e621.

Yeah, that's CloudFlare.

If you whois the IP you'll see the range belongs to "CloudFlare Latin America S.R.L"

yup yup

Same. If I have it that near, why it's still slow?

The real IP address (I'm not going to post because that'd probably defeat the entire point of DDoS protection) looks like it locates to a hosting company in Nevada. These things aren't always too accurate and Nevada is bordering Arizona so it could easily be Arizona based.

Well, yeah. The actual location is in Arizona (can't remember exactly where). We're talking about where is CloudFlare serving the site (I think?) as to why e6 is slow

I don't know why it's so slow, but I think Encyclopedia Dramatica uses CloudFlare as well, and it's been down a lot lately as well, 502 errors like e6 and what not.

Why would you even visit that site anyway?

It's nothing but hate on one thing or another.

That's why it's worth visiting.

It's not the where, it's the what. Cloudflare isn't a good choice for this kind of website.

False. Cloudflare is actually a great asset for e621.

e621 is managed and hosted in Phoenix, Arizona. FYI :)

+1

Cloudflare, despite the issues it can have, it does work out for many sites.

Like normal, you are absolutely incorrect. Don't worry, you'll figure out why soon enough.

Mind dropping me a dmail why Cloudflare is bad? A lot of my stuff relies on it and I'd rather get no unpleasant surprises.

I too would like to know what blocker-level issue CloudFlare presents to a booru.
