We have a default blacklist.. and that's empty. My proposal is to set the default blacklist for anonymous users to safe for work (making passerbyers from off site places and some artists happy) but googling it up by having a notice saying it's set to safe only, and to remove it to adjust their blacklist.

If that makes any sense.

I approve of this idea. However, if it's implemented, you'll have to get some SFW ads (as in, not dog dick sex toy ads) as well.

Very strong second here.

One thing though, for registered users it t be a bit of a hastle to open and edit the blacklist every time you want to switch to "safe" mode. Could you make some sort of button that toggles it on and off, probably while you're on the main listing?

There are a few. Sometimes I see ads for furry webcomics like TwoKinds.

I disagree, when I found the site, I enjoyed seeing such nice NSFW pics, had there been none I may have just skipped over the site. aka it brings in newcomers by having a relevant first impression.

I think this is a good idea, as it would make it easier to link people to the site through forums without having to worry about the "don't link to a porn site" rules that are often in place.

As long as there's a notice letting them know that there's a default SFW filter, it is a relevant first impression.

Agreed. Also, remember this is for anonymous users- Not if you're signed in. Thus this really won't affect us directly, just people that get either directed here by someone else, or won't sign up- Perhaps encouraging more of the anons to sign up.

Plus it means anyone getting into the explicit material will be forced to be familiar with how the blacklist operates.

And that is always a good thing.

I'm in favor of this if the notice is painfully obvious, like having it sitting in place of the picture that you're trying to view. What would be REALLY nice is if the message could also tell you WHICH tags are causing the image to be blacklisted for you.

So like: "YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE THIS SUBMISSION BECAUSE IT MATCHES THE FOLLOWING TAGS ON YOUR BLACKLIST: (list tags here). IF YOU WISH TO SEE THIS IMAGE, CLICK HERE TO EDIT YOUR BLACKLIST."

Well, not really. As it is, if something's on your blacklist, then there's a little "Hidden: #" link that pops up beneath your search bar. Just click that and it freveals the images hidden by the blacklist. For this to go in in a way that would be community-acceptable, that "Hidden #" link would need to get a checkbox or something with a disclaimer of age, on the Anon sessions only I think.

I was thinking more of what should happen if you're linked directly to an image I suppose, although currently the site doesn't prevent you from seeing blacklisted images if you're linked directly to their submission page.

My concern with the "Hidden" link on the left is that it's not going to be noticeable or obvious enough if blacklisting rating:e is going to be the site's default behavior. We need to include some sort of notification somewhere (maybe a bar like the News bar?) that the site is currently hiding explicit images, with a link and information on how to fix it. If possible, we could also adjust the behavior of the "Hidden" link on the left so that if they click the "rating:e" or "rating:q" tag, it takes them to their blacklist page where they can un-blacklist the tags there (this page would also have a disclaimer, of course).

Do a bar like the "You have mail" bar, done in say red or orange (would recommend orange as it's the compliment to blue) for anons that blurbs about the default blacklist, perhaps? maybe it links to the wiki page about blacklists?

Or perhaps just say screw it to the anons and make it so that if they want to see anything more than rating:s content they have to sign up for an account? >_> Then they'd have to agree to the TOS to view more, and we wouldn't have to put any extra disclaimers anywhere.
