Topic: Post addition rate is lowering!

Posted under General

Hi. I just did an excel work on E621 posts because I was bored.
Here is it > link (I corrected the previous broken link)
A simple look at this chart suggests that the slop of chart is lowering by passage of the time. (Second Derivative is negative)

I thought people are posting more photos these days!
What do you think?

People who draw on non-computer mediums would beg to differ.

Stats beg to disagree.

There is one major decline at about November 2014.

There is more porn uploaded every day than you need. There is porn that has been created but not uploaded to e621 yet. And there is this

I didn't actually look at the graph (I'm sure it's super pretty though) but I have a theory that COULD explain the decline.

There aren't any furry "fads" exploding right now, or at least, none that I'm aware of.

Remember when My Little Pony became popular and there was a surge of new art posted to the site? Remember when the same thing happened with Five Nights at Freddy? Well, artists and fans have (mostly) moved on to some other thing.

Now I'm not saying either of those trends are dead, I mean, there's always new MLP and FNaF content uploaded everyday for god's sake, but it's certainly died down since then.

It's just a theory but if we wait for some new explosive fad to happen again we could see another resurgence in uploaded content. (My bet's on SpaceJam 2)

there's going to be a fucking sequel to Space Jam

what

It was cancelled because Michael Jordan didn't want to take part in a sequel. The reason that the filmmakers gained interest in a sequel was because the main theme became an internet meme, so it was mistaken for genuine public interest for the first movie.

That's around the time they stopped approving all-human art.

There is a certain age the regular furry artist are getting to right now. And that is the age of having children, meeting partners and calming down aspects of their lives that in their younger years were still appropriate.

We can argue about weather or not it is okay to be drawing porn of large anthro huskys whal you have a kid 2 rooms away later but the point -now- is that people don't WANT to do that, it's an awkward thing to do especially since your partner will most likely not be on the same page as you when you say you want to skip off to draw an otter getting face fucked into a log.

The regular top-notch furry artist are all around the same ages, so they are all going to "retire" around the same time. They meet girls/guys and start to settle in to a "normal" life. IT's just how things work, this is what happened to the pony fanfiction scene 2-3 years ago when all of a sudden people on tumblr and fimfiction just started dissapearing.

Think of internet art like the cycle of the avatars. One group of artists grow old and eventually pass away (Pass away on the internet, not in real life you cynical little-) And the next group comes to take their place, will they end up being BETTER? Than the last group? We won't know yet. But this is when artist will start to fall off, start to leave the internet behind in favor of family and life choices. The next group will come soon enough, we just need to wait for them to start posting and new artists will take over the scene soon enough.

You mean LeBron James?...or were they also trying to get Michael Jordan in on it as well?

I think what @Darklightness said is the best explain. What @Cynosure said was more like a horror story, to a real explanation!!!

Then we shall wait until Zootopia or Space Jam 2 comes out, and then I'll watch the stats afterwards, and we can continue our disscussion later.
