Espinoth is the owner of e.g. characters Asura Arklin and Tiānzhēn Xiānhuā and while Espinoth appears to be a minor artist, they have next to none of their own art on here.
It should probably (if ever needed) be separated into two tags, e.g. copyright:espinoth and artist:espinoth_(artist).

Then should the same be done for other artists like Herro or Zp92 who's characters are drawn quite a bit by other artists?

Usually the character tag is enough by itself. If there's need for disambiguation we usually do *_(character), *_(artist), etc.
Commissioners/character owners are rarely tagged by themselves (we generally avoid it because of the confusion it causes). The exceptions I know of are either users who are insistent on having one and there are a few specific commissioners like whitekitten which are tagged because of the content that their commissions have.
I don't know where Espinoth falls in on this, but I hope this at least puts it into a bit more context.

If you ask me, copyright tags are only so useful as they group together posts which may have very little in common (outside of commercial use), character and artist on the other hand usually give much more useful information.

Might as well sneak in a question I've been pondering over:
If there is a character and an artist by the same name, they got 10 posts of their art and 100 posts of their character would you do:
or simply:
I.e. favor a simpler tag name for the more populated tag?

If they are both being actively tagged...it kind of depends. I'd probably lean towards the first in that case just to keep things clean. If all the art is from 5 years ago the second option is probably fine as well.
Then again, it is a bit easier when they have over 100 posts, since that means the tag types won't change back and forth at random intervals. :P
