Topic: Shows, Movies, and Anime with Anthropomorphic Characters

Posted under Off Topic

Welp, we already got a games and movies (kinda) thread about this going on currently, so lets keep expanding. Share some shows, anime, and even movies you know of that have anthropomorphic characters of some kind in it?

Lets try and keep things interesting, and not go for the low hanging fruits. I'm pretty sure everyone knows about mlp, lion king, gumball, and so on, so try and name off things that are really obscure and rare.

if you're gonna expand into anime then shouldn't cartoons in general be added to the mix? in which case there is a lot that could be listed.

oh, that reminds me of some good news i found a while back. SWAT-KATS REVOLUTION they more than doubled they're goal so heres hoping they succeed.

That's what I meant by shows, but didn't wanna make the title super long.

Loonatics Unleashed was the first thing that popped into my mind.

Glad I didn't watch Season 2 at the time, solely because of that cringe fest they call an intro.

Welp, might as well pitch in my own thread~
Though some of these obscure to the point where it's next to impossible to find.

Jewel Pet This one has several different series, each with 51 episodes, and is still ongoing. As well as a few movies.
Maple Town
The Moomins This also has a movie or two. Not sure of there are multiple series or not.
Toad Patrol
Pandalian Good luck trying to find this, I've been searching for years and am now convinced it just vanished completely, apart from 6 japanese dubbed episodes on youtube.
Bagi, Monster of Mighty Nature
Wonder 3/The Amazing Three
Kaiketsu Zorori
Shima Shima Tora no Shimajirō
Juuni Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger
Onegai my Melody
The Elm Chanted Forest
Watership Down

The Vision of Escaflowne had some anthro races.
Shinsekai Yori had a bunch of queerat colonies.
Princess TuTu intermingled fairytale anthros with the human populace.
Guin Saga had the Sem, a race of anthro monkeys.

I would largely exclude animal_humanoids and one-off characters. Technically, Nyanta and other werecats from Log Horizon also have proper furry anthro designs, but they seem too much of a novelty race only like many other playable animal races in MMOs. Full anthro kitsune and other spirits or gods also appear in many supernatural-themed anime, but I'd hesitate to include them here when few are shown in such anime. Then there's the more beastly of the non-human bipedal creatures, like kobolds and goblins, that may not look like any one anthropomorphized animal but are anthropomorphized something-or-others nonetheless.

All of these anime predominantly featured humans, though.

Agree'd. I never really considered neko's to be animals in any way.

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (and its followup) if you count human intelligence.
Sylvanian Families.
"Jungle Patrol" (very rare)

I'll add more if I come up with anything.

could someone tell me if they ever happen across an anime by the name of Wild Knights Gulkeeva (i might have the last part spelled wrong) with english subs?

i've always wanted to check it out but iirc the only thing i ever found was the title sequence on youtube and that was years ago. i've never once found a full episode, subbed or not.

Ask and thou shalt receive! :U Fair warning tho, I went to that site with adblocker on, so I dunno if it's plagued with pop-up's or not.

like i care? i use adblock plus pretty much everywhere. tyvm though. :) i'll check it out later after i get some sleep.

edit: i'm surprised this is loading as smoothly as it is. especially after i noticed the following:

i downloaded 6 episodes of that Overlord anime as i saw them (i usually watch anime here) and heres the info on episode 1 of Overlord:

Overlord episode 1, mp4, 00:24:16, 61.5MB

compare that to these wild knight gulkeeva episodes where flashget is saying the 1st episode alone is also mp4, 23:06 long, BUT is 352MB in size.

i was thinking of using flashget and downloading this show as well (so i won't have to let it buffer constantly) but wth? why is the file size so big? this one episode is a little under 6x the file size of the Overlord one AND that Overlord video was in 720p too.

edit2: *sigh* i feel as if i wasted your time now. just went looking on google and found a torrent which look to be those same videos but in mkv format and half the file size (170-180 MB+). 352mb for one episode...that's ridiculous. >.>

well, it's not entirely anthro (the main character and the people working for him are demons, undead, and other stuff so i guess that counts, right?), but if anyone wants to see that overlord anime you can watch it here you can download it in that small file size i mentioned above if you use the mp4upload video mirror. just click the download icon on the video player.

now then, i guess i have a torrent to start up. :/

edit3: dead torrent dead torrent dead torrent... :( i guess all i can do is wait till night time and give these episodes each around 30minutes to 1.5+ hours to load.

I had looked and found stuff last time you asked, but I didn't post for no reason in particular. You can get a torrent of the full show here. There's only 5 seeds, but this actually does have seeds and I got 400-600 KiB/s almost immediately. However, if you read the comments there, people said that its subs are bad and that there's a better subbed option on YouTube, over here.

And yes, from a cursory glance, this show has at least a few anthros.

-_- sorry, but the version of utorrent i use is 2.0 (not 2.04) so i can't due to they're dumb whitelist stuff. i tried that site as it was among the first few links i got on google last night. guess i could try updating utorrent.

edit: nope, newest version of utorrent is 3.4.3 (stable version) and the highest version on that site's stupid whitelist is 3.3.1.

hmmm...didn't know about that youtube channel. i'll check that out then as i doubt the file sizes would be so bloated on youtube.

edit2: 10mb on the video of the opening (from that youtube channel. started downloading them just now.). that's MUCH better, just so long as the quality is decent.

eh, good enough for me. :) now for the rest of those videos since i dislike constant buffering and youtube is always buffering.

5 episodes in and it's pretty good so far.

edit3: well, just finished and that was a pretty good anime. it's surprising how well they can fit a good story line into a somewhat small series sometimes.

edit4: i was just thinking and you know, it's actually kinda hard to say the "darkloids" (the villains of the anime) were really in the wrong for they're end goals.

i mean, ok, so you have us humans and earth in one dimension then you have the humanoids, beastloids, and darkloids living on a planet called Athaelia in a different dimension.

the humanoids and beastloids live in peace and well...they conflict with the darkloids. this planet, athaelia seems to be entering a form of ice age. well, the way they show it in the anime, the humanoids and beastloids have basically just given up and accepted fate that this is what they're planet wantsor something like that.

the darkloid prince on the other hand came up with a plan called the grand transmutation which would, in effect, cause earth and athaelia to swap places (just the planets, not the peoples on them). effectively rescuing the athaelians from what may be certain doom. thing is, this would clearly be dooming one race (us humans) to save all that live on athaelia, something the humanoid queen, Millenia, thinks is wrong.

so you see, while the means may not be the best, it's still hard to say the darkloid prince, zasa, was really in the wrong for his end goals.

actually, if you think of it in a similar way. the main villain of the mega man X series of games, Sigma, isn't entirely in the wrong for his goals either. his means may not have been the best way to go BUT his goal wasn't necessarily a bad one. that being a nation built only for reploid kind to live in peace without human interference.

in that way, it's easy to say that people like zasa and sigma are in the wrong if you focus mainly on the means and not the end goal. if you take into consideration the goals they're trying to achieve, can you really wrong in what they're working towards?
