Topic: Is it worth not blacklisting?

Posted under Off Topic

Weird question indeed, let's explain the situation.
I have been here for two and a half years, and I always made sure I noticed every new post. My blacklist is completely blank.
I already made a topic last time I went on a vacation without Wifi,(https://e621.net/forum/show/147381), and it was pretty hard catching up the 28 new pages.
However, I just returned from a whole month without Wifi, which means 128 pages and therefore 20480 posts. That's 4.5 times more, which means I would have to spend 31.5 hours (plus a couple pages more, by the time I'm finished) to catch up.

Now is this really worth it? Should I blacklist more?
e621 will be my death

Only blacklist things that makes you scream or you extremely hate.

For example some users >:|
(No point to anyone)

I don't blacklist at all. I just see it as a limiter on my overall enjoyment of e621.

The only time my blacklist was anything beside white was when Parasprite "stained" it with an ASCII of what I'm assuming is a man peeping through a hole in the wall.

Scrubbed that off with the backspace key bleach is what I did.

heres a reason to use the blacklist: people around here hate it (and for good reason) when a user actively refuses to make use of the blacklist and said user continuously proceeds to find and post comments on pics he/she/it doesn't like just to say how they hate certain things.

good way to get neg records, that. especially if you don't heed the warnings of the admin and keep doing it anyway.

so if you're that type of user then yes it's worth it to blacklist what you don't like, otherwise get ready for an eventual perm ban.

that said, i don't know much about the OP here. this was just pointing out one type of user i've seen before.

Mostly I just have other people blacklisted. Can't really predict when someone you don't like is gonna start saying dumb shit. So blacklist really comes in handy there.

I see users actively avoiding blacklisting and posting crap comments on things they hate as a way of natural selection (Without death of course XP) if you think about it.

If you really don't like certain topics, I don't see why you shouldn't blacklist. My problem is that I'm deathly afraid of missing out on stuff due to some small technicality, hence I can't have a blacklist. Plus I also know both how to not click on stuff and to evacuate in case I don't like something. In summary: I only use it when tagging.

All of this.
I currently only blacklist tags for which I dislike 100% of the content, and/or are either frequently posted in flash/video form I got tired of scanning mouseover text for mass_effect or just numerous enough to unnecessarily extend the length of my searches on a regular basis.
