I uploaded a self portrait of myself, and apparently I'm a fairly attractive 43 year old man.

If I'm lucky, the AI will see it as a hot 27-year-old female's face.

It's much less "artificial intelligence" and much more:

1) Facial recognition, does it look kinda like a face? Shape wise.

2) Color, what color is their skin? Lighter skin probably means younger person.

So it basically goes:

Is it a face?
-yes
What color is the skin
-bright
What is the age then?
-27~ (pick a random number between 25 and 29)
Are they hot?
-Random selection most likely on the higher end.

I tried a crop of a work photo and it can't even find me. :V

I get consistent results at least, so I doubt it's actually randomly picking numbers/hotness.

Also they specifically said their algorithms were designed for 18+, so I'm not surprised the baby got ignored.

With facial recognition, head-on photos tend to be the easiest for them to detect.

Also, if you have glasses, are wearing a scarf over your mouth, etc. or there are multiple people in the photo it might have trouble a face.

Don't take this the wrong way, because I don't mean it in a bad way, but whenever I hear someone listing off a bunch of nationalities that they have roots in, my first thought is "that's the most American thing ever".

I generally dislike America in a lot of ways, but what I do like about it is how common it is for all sorts of people to blend together. I like how my town, for how small it is, has Mexican, Japanese, Italian Chinese, and Korean restaurants alongside burger joints, for instance. How there's some sort of shared culture between different groups, but also it's not just blended altogether into one homogeneous lump.

So when I read a description like you just gave there it makes me smile. I hope that's not weird, but if it is, oh well, I stand by it.

Spookily enough it got my age exactly right after having turned 23 not but 18 days ago. I'll take the "Nice" regardless of how many quotes I imagine around that motherfucker, though. Actually I do have a boyfriend but I mean... my relationship with him was never really based that much on looks.
