Topic: A question about deletions

Posted under General

Sorry, but I would like to ask a question. Is it possible for a user to search for posts that were deleted? I mean like, say, going to the search bar and typing 'search deleted [artist name]', and they would give you a list of all of the artist's posts that were deleted? It's because I sometimes want to find the reason a post by someone else was deleted, but looking through the recent deletions list is tedious, especially when it was deleted a while ago.
Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm trying to get the hang of this site, and this is one of the things I'm curious about. Thanks!

Yes, however you cannot see the actual image(This would defeat the purpose of deleted).
To do this, simply add "status:deleted" to the tag search, eg: https://e621.net/post/index/1/status:deleted%20test
If you wish to see recent deletions, there is a special page for that here: https://e621.net/post/deleted_index

Ever since the -62 tagme thing, I've always found this system odd. Why not just delete the entire post and not have it screw with the tag numbers?

AFAIK, posts are only deleted permanently (aka. destroyed) if it's absolutely necessary. Otherwise, it could be a bit more problematic to identify exact duplicates and to restore posts that don't need to be deleted anymore.

In addition to what EsalRider said, keeping the tag numbers on the page (what the user sees) accurate with the DB 24/7 is an expensive process computing-wise. Essentially there are shortcuts to temporarily approximate the numbers (the "cheap" process) until the DB has time to process and sort them (the "expensive" process). Most of the time this is good enough data but as you can see there are still some artifacts of it laying around.
