i was just responding to a comment on post #705055 about the whole "wearing underwear on you're head" thing and after a quick google search i see this

note my comment on the pic:

if i saw something like that in a pool here i'd blacklist the entire pool on the spot. which actually raises a question now that i think of it: can pools, like all tags and even usernames, be blacklisted too? and if so, what can't be blacklisted?

all this because of some dumbass "hero" in a manga. *facepalm*

Many stores that sell now manga and anime in japan used to be stores where you could buy straight up cp. They no longer sell cp, but instead just pictures of children in their underwear. That's what I've heard and I'm not sure it's true but it seems pretty plausible considering all the gross stuff the op is talking about.

Yeah it does sound like a implausible rumor. Probably not true

As fun as it is to laugh about how they do this or that silly thing, there are some very interesting differences in their culture.

A lot of people think we should take a page from their general workaholic attitude. I personally doubt that there's no connection between that and their shockingly high suicide rate...

Another thing to note is that they are pretty much the only well-off country in the world with a decreasing population. They just aren't having kids. Work/school is a higher priority than raising a family, dating, or even making friends to the average Japanese. And you'd better be devoted. If you aren't getting there early, leaving late, and working hard the whole time, you're below average.

The decreasing population means that their economy is starting to revolve around taking care of the elderly. But how will they do it? There might soon be more old people than people who will be young enough to take care of the elderly at this rate. Couple that with modern technology and medicine keeping everyone alive longer and...

It makes you wonder if Japan's aging population will make them irrelevant eventually. They have a lot of respect for their elders, too, which means that many of their politicians are pretty old. And, as old people tend to be, they can be unwilling to change... hence the brawl over the proposition to allow Japan to deploy its military.
