Topic: cub stuff and pokemon

Posted under General

I've been thinking about this for a while.

there are certain pokemon that undoubtedly look "cubby" for example pichu or vulpix.

following twys, implying that outside knowledge is irrelevant, should pichu be tagged cub?

there is of course the counter argument that it is pop culture, but should that matter?

with cub, it's generally better to be safe than sorry. There are many countries that outright ban that sort of imagery and it's important that it be properly tagged so the blacklist functions properly.

Pichu actually is a baby pokemon, though, whereas vulpix is not. There can be a cub vulpix, sure, but it's not by default, whereas there really can't be a non-cub pichu. Also what null said.

so where do we draw the line?

just, if someone thinks it's cub, isn't it safer to keep it that way, even though others agree on it not being that?

that is to say, if we aim for safety, we will have a limit that creeps slowly towards older-looking characters.

Such as (imho) post #145956, post #103800, or post #94156?

I would be willing to agree that straight-up pichu should probably be tagged cub, just wanted to point out that it shouldn't be an implication, in case that was where the thread was going to go.

Seeing as we tag anthro pichu on coloration alone doesn't really help the cause, like ikdind pointed out, what do we do with an adult woman that looks like a pichu?

Tag what you see.

and: what pokemons/digimons should be tagged, and which are safe?

gatomon, more or less all baby pokemon, machop, ratata, many rookie-level digimon et cetera

Pretend you have zero knowledge of Pokeymans and apply the cub tag in that manner.

IMHO ikdind kinda killed any implication happening. But twys if it looks really cubbish is not a bad idea

Pokemon looks cubby? I guess fa will be banning it soon then.

Oh, you.

Also, I misreas the OP.
Pretty clear for anthroversions of the pokemon in question so the problem is with the feral versions only.
I'd go with the general "how to draw cute kids" rules, overly large head and eyes to overly small legs and arms are generally safe signs of kids in any species.
Also probably behavior if visible. Comics come to mind.
