Is there no better way to go about updating older images with newer, higher quality ones without the original poster getting penalized for, at times, not having access to certain images at their highest possible quality due to the artist posting posting a better version days or months later, or what have you?

Granted in the grand scheme of things it's not "that" big of an issue when your general user will maybe only get dinged 2 or 3 times, but for the few others who may have had the misfortune to have dozens of said uploads and end up having their upload limits tank as a result, how is that really fair to them?

If it happens to you, just politely ask the admins to take it off your record.

If higher quality versions come out later and someone gets hit hard by it, we can make exceptions and adjust their upload limit accordingly. They just need to let us know and (preferably) be polite about it. If they upload lower quality images when their are already higher quality available, we can't help them much.

It's really only an issue when a user is consistently uploading lower quality images than are available, which is really what the upload limit is meant to prevent.

I recall this happened to Scakk when (s)he uploaded a Pokémon comic by Haychel. The Admins adjusted his upload limit at his request.

and since then I've given up uploading because i got the bare minimum upload limit again, and then more and more older posts kept getting deleted, because appearently i was "stealing" art and a bunch of artists seemed to have caught on to my problem and being the site FA is, most of them dont know how E621 works, for example, charzy pics are no longer on this site.

Sounds like the issue was that you didn't ask them for permission to post their work before you did so, most are pretty open to having their work reposted as long as they are asked about it beforehand.

Yeah. Unless they already have several images on here, I tend to ask them.

Drachenmagier was smart and actually noticed "Hey, there's an artist tag right here!" but that's probably because she was looking to see where her art got uploaded after I got permission from her and was specifically told to make sure to mention she was the artist.

Yeah. That's often why whenever I upload art, it's commonly from the same artist.

Instead of whining "sum1 done stoled mai uplode and nao mai uplode limit is down!!!11"
why not just look at the bvas list and upload some bigger versions?
you know, to restore your upload limit
none of the whiners *ever* do that, not even when i explicitly tell them about this possibility

Hell, you made the extension for uploading higher resolution images, making it even easier to do.

except that a lot of them were already on here, just veyr little was, charzy for example is what i would consider one of the more popular charizard characters, if he wasnt on e621 to begin with, i would never have found him.
"because its my character" was all i got when i asked him why he decided to remove everything invovling him. :/
