Unless we were to consider these to be creepy comments, there is not much of a way we could enforce this.

Both those and the joking "it'll fit" types indeed get old fast.

I suppose they could also be considered "refusal to use blacklist" if the same person is posting it on several pictures in a way that indicates that they'd be better off blacklisting hyper_penis or something.

More on topic, as far as overly-repeated jokes go, I'd say that the various jokes that accompany fire type Pokemon are probably the most commonly repeated. But I don't think banning overused jokes is really that great of a way to go - chances are each user is making that joke only a couple of times before they get bored of it themselves, so such a rule would only serve as a newbie trap.

The thing is that I will not give someone a record over a joke. That is a waste of everyone's time.

There are some things you may just need to deal with. I don't like the idea of this kind of censorship just because someone finds it annoying.

Those comments don't make sense to start with. Everyone knows there are no organs in the furry world, everyone has a black hole inside them and orifices consist of super elastic.
But in all seriousness, there are a lot worse comments it there. Some examples of what I've seen:
"I wish it was a girl/guy"
"I want to be x"
"Would be a lot better without the penis"
Or endless arguing over "its a guy" "no its a girl" "obvly a cboy" "nope its a femboy"

Just do what I do, down vote and move on, eventually it will go below the down vote threshold.

If they're posting it on several images, wouldn't it count as spam, then?

They're not trying to promote any kind of external website or service, they're just being slightly repetitive, so no.

Threads like this are the reason some people don't deserve to have the ability to express their thoughts.

By furry standards… which by realistic standards would probably be blackout-inducing during an erection

Fix'd comments were annoying and had the potential to start some arguments between dumb people.

At least stereotypical 'can't fit' comments are just white noise. Besides, it helps the commenters find like-minded, humorless individuals to o3o and :3 with

That's a completely stupid myth, the average Joe's erection takes a tablespoon of blood to fill. Even if we scale this up to a foot of external penis the erection wouldn't use more than 3-4 tablespoons, which is far below the "limit" people need to bleed to start fainting.

How can I bother to call myself a hive-mind. when I'm standing right beside that much competition for the title?

For the record I agree with you on that. I even said I thought hitting people with records for jokes is not a good way to go about things.

If that comment wasn't directed at me, I apologize. Sometimes I have trouble telling if people are replying to me necessarily or rather adding their point alongside mine. But I thought I'd clarify that no, I agree with you on this and said as much.

Furries without a sense of humor? Say it ain't so, Joe!

Seriously though, this is just a case of someone needing to grow some thicker skin. If a comment is intentionally derogatory toward the artist or the artwork (guilty of doing that myself) then, yeah, rock on with handing out records. But when has "the cock wouldn't fit lolol" been on that thread before? Not often enough to be worth censoring.

If I don't like a comment, I downvote it and move on. You should do the same.

Well, I've had some comments go as far as making me want to flag an upload for deletion because people either refused to blacklist or don't have anything constructive to say lol.

Repeatedly commenting the same catchphrases/jokes on images in great numbers is considered spam, regardless of anything.
The code of conduct states it too.

I blacklisted someone who is continuously posting the same unfunny joke on multiple images, but not that much for it to be considered spam.

I have little respect for thin-skinned artists that nuke posts. Nuking art (even porn) for any reason is similar to deleting Wikipedia entries or burning books. It penalizes anybody who enjoyed the work, and could lead to it becoming lost forever, even after the copyright expires.

I am glad you are not one of those artists, but there have been several in the past year.

Whether the intentions are malicious, slanderous, or well meaning, it's not like you need a badge, or some kind of special permission to criticize one's actions or decisions. And regardless of who you are, or what position you have, "you're" not immune from said criticisms.

Let them think what they want, doesn't mean I have to take said criticisms at face value necessarily. Criticism should be constructive and never malicious IMHO, as people benefit from (brutally) honest feedback and criticisms. Nevertheless, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who has malicious intent to bring others down for no reason than out of spite or "just because they can", shouldn't expect to be immune from backlash either. Just saying.

Criticism can be whatever the person saying it wants it to be, regardless of the tone or meaning behind it. And believe it or not, a lot of people benefit from malicious criticism in the right circumstances. Brutal honestly only goes so far. And I'm fairly certain most people know what they're sticking their foots in when they post stuff out in public, for any user and admin to see.

Anyways I personally prefer not to be involved in another forum that got derailed into a side tidbit centered about you and your *clears throat* "problems", so I'm dropping this here.

a much simpler solution to all of this is simply not having things rammed by cocks bigger than their entire body

There's no point being some angry armchair critic on every piece of artwork out there, unless someone actually asks for it. It's only detrimental, to both artist and your fellow users, to only comment about all the things that "have to" improve, ignoring all the awesome parts of the art meanwhile. Not to mention that it is perfect flame-wars ignition material, leading to unwanted discussions that only get people worked up over it and get records.

Of course being angry never helps. Different sites do have different cultures though. I think it's important to recognize that e621 is an archival site -- not a link-finding site like Reddit or a gallery like FA/DA/IB/... or a critique-focused site like ConceptArt or Pixelation.

Commenting with critique (in a constructive and not self-righteous way) may add something to a post's archival value, but only if it results in a publicly viewable dialog with the artist. Otherwise, even constructive critique is pretty much noise.

(similarly, commenting on how the post relates to your personal preferences, or stating the obvious -- IMO this is the kind of case OP is talking about -- don't add archival value.)
