Topic: Background kinda guy.

Posted under Off Topic

Now that I look at it from a year perspective. I have one account thats been here since 2011 and this account has been here sine 2014! Now not necessarily an old man but being on this website since 11' with a total of 0 forum posts I felt obligated to start one tonight. Now that I think of it the only thing ive ever really contributed to this site was asking for a better mobile site or app a year ago, and admins came through and talked back to me. So that was cool.

So my question for all of you is; For websites like this do you prefer to search and be quiet. Or interact with the community? Personally for things like this im not super open and flaming about I prefer to stay low and not get involved in petty drama. Its a shame alot of it happens on here.

I like to talk to the other users in the forums, leave comments on posts, and do tagging work when I can, occasionally find art to post.

Generally I do search for a lot of art, but recently especially, I have started making more comments on posts and posted in forums. So in short, to me, both are something I do and enjoy!

Actually I have been staying in the background for most of my initial time here on the site, searching up some art and whatnot. Then, I made an account.

Nowadays, I will just pop in and post some artwork from a variety of different artists, you know contribute a little bit, then visit the forums to see if there's anything interesting.

Of course, it's good to mix around with the community(both in and out) and meet new friends & people.

I search a lot (to be up to date), sometimes I'll visit the forums/blips if the subjects are worth the time and chat. Other than that, I stay in the background too...avoiding flame wars.

Oh and I enjoy complementing other people's artwork, I do it everyday.

Same! Some people need that motivation!

Indeed they do need it, some artists are rather low when it comes to their art. They just need a little push and motivation.

I also have been here since 2011 but only since around a few months ago really had anything to say. I remember first stumbling onto this site while p2ping one night back in '08 and being amazed something like it existed (booru sites weren't too common), then forgetting how to find it and repeating the process for awhile until actually making an account – it blows my mind that that's been five years already

seems like it's in really good way now but for a long time I didn't really feel much communality with the community....it was actually the music thread that got me to open up somewhat, since it's typically those where I can find & share the most worthwhile content. So I guess furry acts as another convenient nexus of interests, and that helps to catalyze discussion at times but mostly just drop out and hang in the umbra; but sometimes feel like if the forums were a little more active there'd be more to talk about

Been here since 2009, and I didn't start heavily participating til 2013-2014.

I've found my own niche in the site chat's community. As for the site itself, it drives me crazy sometimes when I see users desperate to get the last word in, especially in an issue that has already been resolved.

but i love you guys anyways

I've been here at the start of 2015, although I downloaded pics in the shadows from here (before making an account) since 2013. Of course, now that I use BID, it's a considetable time-saver.

And in the 13 1/2 months I've been officially a member of e621, I've willingly helped out and wanted to be part of the community, focusing on uploading, tagging, humor in the comments, and generally being a positive influence with a willingness to help others that ask.

Feels great to be surrounded by colorful and generally good-natured people of similar interests. And I hope to be here for years to come, contributing in the aforementioned as well as through my budding art hobby.

One of the main reasons for me. I really like e621's code of conduct and how this is maintained frequently. This assures me I won't have to deal with annoying trolls or other sorts of rude guttersnipes like you see on Steam forums for example, because sites like Steam, Google+ and YouTube don't care about your well-being at all online.

A horrible but true example of this is that on Google+ I once found a profile that was created solely for extreme ethnic harassment and hatred. It grew out to become a really famous profile and Google+ just turned their back to it, pretending it isn't there. They couldn't care less about its users, and more or less encourage these kind of hostile online environments, including indirectly fueling cyber bullying.

e621 is the complete opposite of all this, and I'm glad for it.

That's what I love about e6 too! They make sure the trolls stay out of here. No one can go without punishment if they post anything unnecessary cruel. When the admins are around, they got the hammer ready for trolls. I love the Admins. :D

Well then, it's a good thing I don't use Google+. That sounds despicable.

It helps to acknowledge the fact that their jobs running this site isn't as glamorous as it seems. Constant ban evasions, vulgarity, even direct and blatant hate towards them.

Not everyone can handle that.

I like talking to people. But I ain't on here much right now. Generally I'm pretty annoying though

I like communicating to peeps on here but not much everywhere else. Too much shitstorms and easily offended peeps on other sites

I know it's not easy, heck I wouldn't be able to do it myself. I've been here long enough to hear the stories...

The work would be too much for me.

I suppose it helps to have the right mentality and judgment. Otherwise they'll never make you forget a mistake you made.
