Topic: Tag Alias: speed_lines -> motion_lines

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Motion lines are supposed to be parallel to the object that's moving, while speed lines are perpendicular.

clearly no one gives a shit about the difference and I doubt we really want to get THAT specific. More accurately, almost no one (me the first) has bothered to tag them with anything but just "motion lines" (even though the majority of those are probably speed lines).

Clearly you're wrong because I do "Give a shit" about it, and I really do want to get THAT specific. But that's where debates come in handy ;)

Motion_lines seems kind of useless. It'd be more useful to tag the activity, such as tail_wag, butt_wiggle, rough_sex, and so on.

I suggest keeping speed_lines, and sorting out motion_lines to more specific tags (or to speed_lines, where applicable).

You're missing out that they're not a topic tag, they're an art tag in the same way that flat_colors or letterbox or speech_bubble are (not all dialogue involves speech bubbles). motion_lines, or whatever tag(s) we end up with, may not be the most useful of art tags (unlike, say, zoom_lines, which definitely can help finding a pic... if it's ever tagged <<;;), but they are, as far as I'm concerned, a legit tag nonetheless.

Hrm. If someone searches for something like post #233488, they're not going to search for motion_lines. They'll search for something like brushing_teeth, which is missing.

I'm not sure why anyone would search for motion_lines. Too much focus on small details, when we should be tagging the content.

We have plenty of overly specific details we tag for as far as I'm concerned (navel comes to mind). If people want to argue for the invalidation of the tag, good for them.

*ads this post as yet another example of complaining about tags instead of fixing them*

The navel is a part of the mammalian body, and some people find it to be sexy. It was even considered an erotic to-be-hidden portion of the body in Japan, I believe. Motion Lines kind of sounds like it would be better aliased to Motion_Blur, but I'm not sure if we'd count simple lines as a "Blur."

I was about to suggest the same implication. What's an example of speed_lines used correctly, and as distinct from zoom_lines?

To be fair. If someone just went and changed everything on a whim theyd get in shit for it.

If ai went and changed every instance of motionlines to something else Id likely get in trouble for getting rid of a "valid tag"

Its the same as aliasing. We dont do it in advance and ask if we can after.

Ask first, shoot if necessary.

As to the discussion itself.

Nobody searches for motion_lines. Id search for speed lines maybe. Or blacklist it. And the difference between them is ridiculous and negligible. Theres no point to using motion _lines for something generally referred to as speedlines.

Also. Its better to tag the action. It helps blacklists when youre more specific.

Zoom lines radiate from every direction to denote the camera is whats moving and not the character.

This image shows both, if you look at the dicks that are actually active in it and not just sitting around. THe one that came into the pink gal has motion lines, parallel to the penis to denote it shaking as it ejaculates. The on inside the yellow gal is still going back and forth, so it has perpendicular lines to show it doing so. Her ass also has motion lines of another sort: The sudden slam into her body causes a jolt of motion, not a shake, in her glutes, so there's a jagged line that points outwards from it.

I don't see any lines perpendickular to the penis in the yellow gal; I do see lines parallel to it. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I mean, the slightly-wavy lines oriented parallel to the left dick are arranged parallel to the implied side-to-side motion, i.e. the direction each line points is dick-parallel but the direction from one line to the next is implied-motion-parallel. But the straight lines along the right dick are arranged perpendicularly to the implied back-and-forth motion. Is that what you mean?

I see that. I just don't get why it'd be better to tag that as motion_lines, rather than something like throbbing.
