Topic: I can't believe we finally did it! The ridiculously unattainable has happened!

When I clicked on that tag search, it came up with five entries. I have dutifully reduced it once more to zero.

Excellent job.
Now start working on -solo -duo -group -zero_pictured.

...kidding. You deserve a break.

I've started doing it few days ago, though I focus on things that can be decided just by looking at thumbnails so I can tag them with tag scripts.

BTW:
Should pics like post #147305 be treated like comic (and be tagged solo) or one picture with multiple characters (and be tagged group)?
How to tag animations? Treat them like One frame = one comic page?

Heh, congrats parasprite! (my phone airways tries to call you pasta sortie by the way), you deserve a cookie

You remind me of me when I vanquished the 'tagme' tag

That's definitely how I feel that way right now, though the post count was around 20000 when I started. It was definitely more slow-going when I finished all the rating:e and rating:q posts.

I'm torn between doing that and the gay/straight/bisexual group. I think this would be better to start first since it will make that project a lot easier (what I don't get done at the same time).

Or maybe I'll just go on a wild penis spree to celebrate.

Well...it could be handled in one of two ways:

1. Tag it as solo, duo, group, and solo_focus
2. Agree that tagging it like 1. doesn't help searching all that much and just go with group.
3. Leave it blank, assuming that every way to tag it is generally impractical.
4. Come up with a shiny new tag, whose purpose is to handle weird cases like this.

I'd actually lean towards 2. myself (whether it's correct or not) since that is probably that closest practical way to tag it without getting too neurotic about it, while 3. has the disadvantage of leaving behind stragglers in the project.

4. would be nice, but what to call it even? The closest intuitive thing I could think of would be to use absolutely_everybody, which would imply group either way.

How to tag animations? Treat them like One frame = one comic page?

I try to treat these scene-by-scene. If there are two scenes that have nothing to do with each other, I'll tag them separately. If the the scene is just a continuation...say "2 people at a house, 1 leaves, drives to the store, there's a long line that they wait in, buys the stuff while having a short conversation, then drives home", I would probably go with group solo_focus, just because that particular character is being followed throughout the whole animation, and this seems the most intuitive (to me at least), but there probably is no one correct answer...you know, except the admin's ;)

Again, I still prefer to balance the practicality of searching with the practicality of tagging. People aren't going to search for Cave Story like "well...there was this one scene where Quote was alone with that grandma person before you brought her the dogs, so I better search for duo".

I focus on things that can be decided just by looking at thumbnails

Because the thumbnails are too damn small on my screen to see anything useful. :3

I've been doing a little bit of work on that, but the amount is completely negligible as they fill in after my tag limit is reached >.>

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I make the mistake of thinking I'm on top of that project, then I log back in the next day and have to spend ages just getting back to where I left off. >.<

Protip: Start at the end (or use order:id_asc). It's much less discouraging and it reduces the burnout feeling from seeing te front page every day (and you can still enjoy seeing new posts without thinking "I gotta tag these").

I like that idea, I might just try that! :)

I've been chipping away at that project for months when I have the time. I have less time than I used to though for tagging. =/ Anyways, I'd tag that one as group. It's a chart, so all the individual portraits are connected and related to each other, making it one larger image instead of a bunch of unrelated ones that needs tagged differently. If you cropped them apart, it would lose some meaning, as a rule of thumb for that. So just group works.

And for animations, pretty much what Parasprite described is also what I tend to do. If it's just mainly one scene or a few related scenes, then I just get the total number and then if appropriate a solo/duo_focus tag, because often there's background or passing characters. If it's got more than one scene that's notably different or even unrelated from each other, like an interactive with an alternate scene with completely different characters and position etc, then I'll tag each one separately and add the multiple_scenes tag. Because someone searching for duo straight interactive is never going to find it if I tag it a combined group as if the scenes were related.

*the sound of a jaw dropping* That seems so obvious now, but never occurred to me. I use that zoom for comparing duplicates that have been flagged. And then do some tagging and wish the thumbs came in a bigger size. lol That is an awesome idea!

It has literally taken over 2 months, but for the first time in probably ever, every single post with a character now has a gender associated with it!

-female -male -intersex -ambiguous_gender -zero_pictured - screencap for posterity

High five for the awesome teamwork and a huge shoutout to all of you that helped out!.

Congratulations!

I feel like I should periodically bump this thread just to remind people to keep tagging this correctly.
