A whole bunch of it just got taken down (takedown #4952). Does anyone know if she made a post about this somewhere? What a shame...

It says clear as day why.

Also Kayla is rather famous for hiding or removing her art from places so. No real surprise. Just decided it was time to pull out.

What then makes me wonder is why she didn't just have all of her art removed? We just lost so much good art >_>

Only copyrighted stuff suggests something happened involving copyrights that she felt the need to take them all down.

What is it with the peanut gallery immediately guessing that it's another artist throwing yet another fit?

It's just standard C.Y.A. involving - mostly major - copyrights.

No one really assumed any kind of fit in this thread yet . . .

Well, it's her art. It's not unreasonable if she wants them off sites that respect artists' wishes.
Maybe we are a more grown up bunch that you thought here on the forum.

Lawsuit involved? Why only copyrighted?

She doesn't take commissions with copyrighted characters either, so maybe she's just trying to keep her nose clean just in case shit goes down. Remember when tumblr starting removing people's fanart of Princess Peach a while back?

It says that everything copyrighted was taken down, obviously, but it doesn't say why. DMCA? Surely not. IP fears? Plausible but I figured the artist might make an announcement or something on FA. I did find a recent comment that might explain things: http://i.imgur.com/7LENq1s.png I agree with Kayla's response and hope she changes her mind about the takedown.

I don't. Because feminism?

Sad that we lost just over 1,000 pieces of quality artwork from Kayla-Na.

Good thing I paid attention to the takedown request and just BID'd kayla-na copytags:>=1 it.

BID?

Bulk Image Downloader.

It's basically a mass-download tool that you can use. It monumentally cuts down the time and effort needed to download images from websites such as e621, deviantart, furaffinity, etc.

You have to pay for it though.

Pretty sure that was a copyright troll/rumor, nothing about Nintendo has actually ever been confirmed.

There is a big difference about artists who draw commissions of copyrighted artwork (Which is still technically illegal) compared to artists who use copyrighted characters as merchandise (Which is also illegal but by far worse, and copyrights holders usually go against that, and are fine with fanart, paid or not) and Kayla-Na was known to do just that, like selling dakimakura of MLP characters a while back. Doesn't help that she has I think, two Patreon on top of all that. Would be very likely the reasons to why she doesn't want any copyrighted artworks outside her control, to lower the chances of getting caught, or maybe just to troll all of us because why not

That could be it. The latest ToS says creators can't "create content using IP you do not own" or "post content that infringes on a third party’s IP." It seems like this just applies to Patreon, though, no reason it should affect Kayla's posts on FA or e6.

Patreon's rules are pretty wide. If you break them on another site, Patreon will remove you.

Gonna need a source on this one. I never thought that Patreon would sink to FurAffinity levels punishing people for off-site stuff.

For breaking the law? You better believe Patreon doesn't harbor criminals. Furaffinity, on the other hand, does. Faf got removed from Patreon for law breaking, but not from FurAffinity.

That rule isn't just a Patreon one, it's a law that you can't make profit off of other people's IPs. I don't know the stance on it when it's offered for free, but Kayla was likely playing it safe.

(That said I might be wrong on how strongly Patreon reacts to things, it may be a minor enough thing that they don't care)

Correction: I didn't sell Dakimakuras, I was commissioned pillow designs by my former employer, and he sold the pillows. Thus, he was the one that was given a C&D by Hasbro, not me. The only reason my name was mentioned is the person that reported the company to Hasbro was targeting me specifically to interfere with me making money off of my art. Everyone else that did business with FD and FD himself was just collateral damage as far as that person was concerned.

Thanks for weighing in and actually giving us an answer so we wouldn't be left wondering :)

No problem. I do apologize if the removal of so much art seems sudden, but I'm not going to ask e621 staff to put me on the DNP list. So you can continue to post my art her eif you wish; I just may be doing a little cherry picking here and there. My apologizes in advance if this may seem annoying to anyone.

Well, it was pretty effing stupid of him to report your name as well.

I don't disagree with you. It didn't hurt me really in the long run, as I still get commissioned pillow designs here and there. They're just for private use now instead of commercial.

Still, I feel bad you had to go through that -_-
