Topic: Any Classical Music Furs?

Posted under Off Topic

So I saw that someone asked about musical instruments about a year ago, and was wondering if there's many people here who are into classical music. Though I love many genres of music, if I had to choose one it would be classical because of the wide array of great music, and because I play the piano and organ. It's super hard to pin down favorites, but from the Baroque I love Vivaldi, from Classical, Beethoven, from Romantic, Chopin, and from 20th Century, Rachmaninoff. I would list pieces but don't want to make a wall of text :/ Right now I'm working on Beethoven's Ecossaises and the Minuet from Sonata No. 2.

What do you guys like?

Hi, that was me. I used to play piano, going to buy a keyboard soon.

Unfortunately I don't listen to very much music (of any kind) but classical is nice...
I like Handel, though

Not really a strictly classical music fan (as my tastes go from classical to harsh noise lol), but I do like some of the tracks from Ren Queenston's retired Sonitus Vir alias.

I quite like classical music, if I were to pick a favorite it would be Paganini.

I have two major classical music albums.

The 50 Greatest Pieces of Classical Music.
The 99 Darkest Pieces of Classical Music.

I'll probably expand on that after I'm done organizing my music.

@Fenrick Handel wrote some awesome stuff. His Water Music is very nice, and his organ concertos.

@HotUnderTheCollar I like some harsh noise too haha. Bangarang is about as crazy as I like it though, which might not be very crazy for some people. That Sonitus Vir song is pleasant and peaceful.

@KnottyCurls Trash??? That seems a little harsh. I'm not very familiar with Scriabin, though he was certainly highly talented. His fifth sonata made my head spin. I'm not very fond of atonal music, which comprises most of his music, I think.

@DragonFox69 Paganini has some insane violin pieces! It boggles the mind... And I just noticed your avatar is holding a guitar haha.

I've been introduced to some great composers from those albums. I bought a few specific tracks from those albums on iTunes because I liked the way they were played, but some are terrible. I can play Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor from the Dark one. I can't remember if I like that one or not...

I love classical music (or just music in general for that matter), dramatic or bouncy is my taste. However, the relaxing ones are the ones that help me get through the day.

The ones I'm listing are mostly popular (and links shown lead to my playlist, sorry about that):

- Mozart / Serenade in G major, K. 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" (Mackerras)

- Carol of the Bells

- Bayonetta Bloody Fate OST 14 バーBGM (Cello Suite No.1 in G major, BWV 1007

- Four Seasons ~ Vivaldi (Oh my gosh I just love this one)

- O Fortuna - Carl Orff Carmina Burana

- Can't forget about 5th symphony. ;)

- Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker Suite, Op 71a

- Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre

- Dies Irae [Verdi Requiem]

And many many more... ;-; I want to find more and add it to my collection. Sometimes I would just listen to studio ghibli's piano tracks, they're super peaceful.

I also love this track from two steps from hell...but it's short. I get a corpse bride vibe from it.

@Aeon18King I love The Four Seasons too! I only listen to them in season though haha. Yesterday I listened to Spring for the first time this year. If you like the Unaccompanied Cello Suites (by Bach) from Bayonetta, you should try the rest of them. Yo-Yo Ma plays them super well.
And who doesn't like Beethoven's Fifth? I love 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 almost equally, in fact.

Evanescene used the intro in one of their tracks, it's so beautiful. <3

Dat intro. No idea what song you mean but I like this part the most. I remember it being longer :I
My cousin mentioned once that the song was unfinished :<

Not just because of the naked woman?

like i've said before in the music thread. i mainly go by what sounds good to my ears in regards to music. i try not to be limited by genre. that said, while it's not something i listen to very often, i do enjoy some classical music from time to time.

i remember there being one classical song in megaman legends 2. one of mozart's works iirc. sounded nice and pleasant to the ears. :)

edit: or was it Beethoven?

Yeah, I know. It just seemed so suspicious for someone on this site to link a video that just so happens to have a naked woman on it. I thought you were possibly being funny--saying "dunno why" sarcastically. Apparently not :/

I just love the more intense classical pieces out there, the ones with vocals and choirs.

Especially when you see someone conducting it!

I do love me some baroque.

I often feel that baroque is more "pure music" than anything else. Plus, it's fun to say :D

The London Philharmonic Orchestra knows how to make those classics beautiful.

On a side note, did you know that I play the trumpet and the violin?

I haven't touched my trumpet in years. The most important thing I did when playing it was perform in a concert during my middle school symphonic band. It was at Disneyland in Los Angeles. We played Mickey Mouse Club March, songs from The Lion King, an orchestrated variation of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, just to name a few. We ALMOST played the orchestral opening to the first Kingdom Hearts game, but it was too challenging for most of us.

As for the violin, we'll I'm frankly an amateur at it and it's collecting dust at the moment. I want to play some complex songs on it. Just need to make time for it.

That's the secret. People say I'm very talented on the keyboard, but that's just because I sink a poop-ton of hours into it, not because of innate talent. However, I have been told I have perfect dynamics, so that's good.
