I keep on getting bad gateways with the cloudflare, Why is the host so unstable, and is there a way for me to avoid this?

Updated by Ratte

It's been happening recently to some of us. Random 502s, sluggishness, even some DText bugs recently.

I'm sure the site staff are on it.

So fucking what? It's not unstable, if I can login, and stay login for the whole day, then it's pretty stable to me.

I never get 502 errors or any others at all. The only error I get is a 500 Internal Server, each time I upload a picture. - The picture gets uploaded successfully though.

yes but you are not everyone.

it seems to be doing better now but not long ago i was seeing 50x's frequently for most of the day. even checking via a different site showed the entire site was down temporarily (and i don't mean for just a few seconds at a time either). that is not stable.

that said, GameManiac, is right and the admin are aware of and working on the issues.

That's really rude. He's trying to get an issue fixed, you don't need to jump down his throat, especially not so aggressively.

Read it as the way you will, but I wasn't lol.

It makes tagging pretty annoying, for starters.
I hate it when I'm tag scripting, and find out that none of the changes actually went through. Because Cloudflare was acting up again.

given the enormity of the tag index, i can see that being quite irritating indeed.

We had some traffic issues recently where certain users were hammering the servers with requests, but from what I've heard those have more/less been resolved for a few days now.

Aside from some recent API restrictions (which were relaxed), I haven't seen any Cloudflare issues for months now.

I never had tags that won't update the list to the left. From editing useless tags from pictures to the pictures I've uploaded, they always been added.

(Why am I not getting all these errors/bugs that these other people are getting?)

Tag scripting allows users to rapidly edit tags at the click of a button. If you need to change 20 posts' tags, you can edit them as fast as you can click the thumbnails. This would result in 20 requests (think something like 20 page loads in a short period of time). If a few don't go through properly they won't actually get tagged.

It was a huge problem before the servers were upgraded as they couldn't process as much at once (so if the requests didn't get responses they would just time out, which happened pretty frequently during high load times).

It depends on what you are doing and how you are doing it. Some stuff requires specific steps (e.g., "add a note to a post, then try to delete it") but others are harder to reproduce because they are inconsistent (e.g., missing spaces bug).

Also keep in mind that not everyone files bug reports in a clear or even accurate way (e.g., "Post uploads don't work" when they are uploading from a URL that isn't whitelisted). It's why so much work goes into troubleshooting steps to narrow down the cause.

Still happens from time to time. Sometimes I've gone down a list of 300 posts, focusing on tagging them. And then I glance up and notice something like Updating posts (185 pending). Because the connection has timed out, for whatever reason. ...have to recheck everything on the page.

When does this happen to you??

Usually around 23:00-01:00 EDT.
I'd guess that that's the peak time for this site.

I get some connection issues on the site but might have to do more with my internet considering 75% of the pages I visit end up loading in basic HTML or with no images.

75% of the pages of the site, or 75% of the pages of the WWW you visit? :P

Ever heard General, or Dysphemistic Euphemism swearing?

A dysphemism is an expression with connotations that are offensive either about the subject matter or to the audience, or both. Dysphemisms contrast with neutral or euphemistic expressions. Dysphemism is sometimes motivated by feelings such as fear, distaste, hatred, and contempt.

You totally were, then. Got it.

No you idiot, that's not what it means.
You did this to me on another post, not reading properly.

This is what it means:

The Wiki of Dysphemism said:

Dysphemistic Euphemism:

Abusive language can be used as friendly banter between friends, intended without animosity. This is indicative of close ties, friendship, or familiarity. For example, "Hey, you old bastard! How's it going?".

You really need to stop being lazy in your reading, by skim-reading, or just taking the first thing at the top if the page, and not scrolling down.

Updated by anonymous

Except when you use it, it doesn't come off as friendly at all. It comes off as mean-spirited.

You can say that coming off as mean-spirited is not your intent, but you have multiple people telling you right now that that's how you're portraying yourself. If everyone is misunderstanding you, it's time to consider that perhaps you aren't doing a very good job of communicating, and maybe it's time to adjust the way you're talking to others.

"Hey, you old bastard! How's it going?" comes off completely differently from "So fucking what?", and if you can't tell the difference between the two, I genuinely suggest that you lay off the swearing altogether, because that would indicate don't understand it very well at all.

Since you've misunderstood me, and others, in the past, I'll make this as absolutely clear as I can: The problem here is on your end. I'm trying to give you sincere advice right now on how to resolve that problem.

I'm getting a "He's Dead Jim," each time I click on my profile or other's profile... :/

What's with the RSS/Atom feeds today?.. It redirects me to google.com...

Updated by anonymous

Last night I was getting so many error 500's (Page not available) and 502's (Cloudflare) that I couldn't navigate. Only once every so many refreshes would I get a page and it immediately entered another 50x error.

Someone was slamming the RSS feeds with thousands of requests every second, so they had to get pulled.

I keep getting error 500s with Pokémon pictures and I don't know why.
I can search for literally anything but if I so much as type Charizard or Mega_Evolution in the search bar I'm greeted with error 500.

I've been having the same issue for the last hour, everything tagged Pokemon is error 500.

Is this an April fools thing??

Same thing here. On post #861389, I got this code: dcf4aae0dadab9c5d59d1081d63eae91

I got it yesterday but it went away with an F5. Now it's appearing again, on a pokemon picture.

Edit: I noticed that sometimes, after refreshing a few times, you may get the picture without an error. This applies to listing pages for (any tag that is implicated to) pokemon as well (such as listing pages for pikachu).
