This is a question I've been wanting to ask to the users and moderators who contribute to e621 for a while. It's a question with an open answer and without any implications; I'm asking this purely out of curiosity.
Like, what makes you:
- spend hours on tagging and posting?
- take part in productive debates on the forums?
- construct and alter Wiki pages?
- translate texts in posts/comics?
- suggest and judge aliases and implications?
What makes you do all those things? Is it because:
- you receive appreciation from others?
- doing e621 a favor because the site does a favor in return?
- it fills up some time in your daily life?
- it make you feel useful or productive?
- it is fun to do?
- you like being busy with something?
- it enhances your skills (e.g. communication, teamwork, English)?
- something else?
As for me
I've been browsing this site for quite a while before joining, and wasn't really interested in contributing to it yet. That was until I created my account last year. I pretty much instantly wanted to help out because it felt satisfying and productive to do.
Now half a year later when I became part of e621's moderation team, I still have the will of being productive, but also like to see improvements happen (I'm often bursting with ideas for better or for worse). I sometimes also receive a friendly word from a fellow user, which is always a good motivation for me.
So, for what reason do you help out on e621?
