Hi all -

As of today, Dave our beloved Pangolin, will be stepping down as lead admin for e621.

His advice, guidance, sarcastic jokes and persistence in improving the site for everyone has been key to getting e621 to where it is today - and I would like to thank him endlessly on behalf of us all for the great work he’s done.

He will of course still be creeping around here under his usual moniker - if you feel so inclined, I recommend sending him a note of appreciation - or sarcastic GIFs. Either way.

In his place, I’d like to welcome the ever-vigilant NotMeNotYou, who will be taking over Dave’s responsibilities. Nimmy has some big boots to fill - but we’re confident that he’ll do a great job, and continue to take e621 from strength to strength.

We have some great plans in the works - working a lot of old, bad code out of the system, improving site performance and hopefully a facelift - and I’m excited for what the future holds.

Dave was the Lead Admin for 4 different pages, as well as a general manager over at Bad Dragon.
I "only" have to lead e621, so I am not as stretched thin as he was.

Also, he was mostly behind the scenes, I pretty much enforced everything anyway.

Pretty much everybody is active on the list, 4 are devs.

To be fair, I personally saw little of Dave (under the assumption he is EDF-Dark-Angel on here), and haven't really had any reason to consider him Char's successor as Lead Admin other than in title. Char, I recall did a remarkable, dedicated job, and NMNY has certainly established themselves as a respectable member of e621's already generally respectable staff, so this is good news to me.

My congrats, NMNY, I look forward to seeing this ship sail under your helm.

This paragraph comes a bit out of left field. I'm all for purging bad code and performance improvements, but I'm wary of UI overhauls. Can we have more details about what's planned for this potential facelift? Or is that something that will get its own thread in the future after the other points have been tackled?

As for the primary subject of the thread, I didn't know Dave well, but I nevertheless hope he finds success in his future endeavors.

I don't know what plans specifically, but for what it's worth the purging bad code and performance improvements would be way before anything like a UI overhaul.
