Yeah, maybe.
It was fine when it was only tagged for a handful of posts, but now it gets mass-added to any explicit felines. Even solos.

(Alias to feline instead of invalid_tag?)

Yeah sure, why not? It'll make tagging anthro or feral and then subsequently bestiality or interspecies easier.

Wow, I did not expect that to be over 400 posts. I remember that having ~100 not too long ago.

Honestly I'd like to leave it on the original (and any direct references), but not if it stays like this. I would be willing to do a trial run (clean it up manually, wait and see) if anyone still finds value in the tag.

Edit: There doesn't seem to be just one person adding it either.

Stop seeping all the fun out of this world :<

Following the joke, it should be tagged on human(other big character) on small house cat.

cant be on solo pictures

preferably not big cat srsly, thats probably a jaguar

We cant have any meaningful implications either, post #665446 is tagged for it because it is directly derived from that meme, its one of the first posts that should have this tag.

It would also be nice if people would use cat only for small cats, and when its a big cat they cant identify, leave it with a feline tag.

I agree. Average (Human) or larger anthro characters on a feral small cat (maybe medium, too, but not big) should have the tag. Not sure if you're saying we should remove it off of the Shantae monkey one, though?

As Parasprite stated, it's overinflated.

Besides, the only tag I consider fun is the lol_comments tag.

*eye roll*

if the tag is added to any post with any sort of feline, it may as well be feline.

it's become meaningless over time

Clean up is one thing, killing it is another. There are plenty of ancient humourous tags here we can witch hunt if you guys really want to get into that . . .

While we are not having fun here, all versions of "that one bug that looks like a croissant that you can freeze and use as a platform" should be changed to invalid besides the first one

Dude. If you want to clean it and continue cleaning it, I dare you to try.

The tediousness of doing that will begin to outweigh whatever fun value the tag has.

A better idea would be to browse through its posts right now, and make a set that includes all tag-relevant pictures.

I'm all for keeping it alive as a bit of site history.

Reduced tag from 429 to 286.

Created a set to hold legitimate examples.

Use a_cat_is_fine_too -set:acatisfinetoo to search minus the ones in the set.

Get the rest down to under 50, post other legitimate ones as thumbnails in this thread, and I will delete the set if we don't need it (if the tag doesn't get aliased to invalid_tag).

Try looking through those cat wife doujinshis. If one panel has "a cat is fine too" or similar translated message I will add the whole comic to the set.

Those duplicated posts aren't in my set.

Weird bug though.

Perfect.

I noticed this bug a while ago but didn't have a simple reproducible search to narrow down the cause. This is actually really helpful.

Edit: Hmm, it's dependent on posts and not sets. I'm not sure why yet but I'm still looking. id:769391 -set:1

That does sound like the retaining alternative to novelty tags.

I've never had a problem with novelty tags and phun, but this one was slapped on all kinds of felines. Like solo anthro felines.

Now I see this tag going missing from pictures that I see as perfect "a cat is fine too" subject matter. It was the only way to find the real housecat with human pictures reliably, without so much other stuff that wasn't "cat and human" by any stretch of the imagination.

human_on_feral feline or human_on_feral cat (the latter is more specific but probably undertagged)

I'd also probably check human feral -human_on_feral bestiality cat since that will pull up anything that isn't actually tagged human_on_feral but will most likely meet the same criteria.

I recall seeing that tag on felyne posts.

Please keep the tag. Clean it, don't clean it, I don't care. It's not hurting anything. It has its niche.

Felynes are often pretty close to the standard models and they do a lot of stuff with humans. It's a good tag for them.

I have also tremendously enjoyed the Easter egg surprise kind of thing that I would find under the "a_cat_is_fine_too" tag. I've loved Digitoci's materials. After all, "cat" is a broad category. It can be anything from a small cat to a giant liger or any of the giant armored fantasy species. Whatever tickles the fancy of people who love this tag. I love the leopards and they are cats. I'm not comfortable with some of it, but no one has to make me comfortable. Whoever has been adding large cats to the mix, I'm all for it. And they are fine.

I think that the regular users have decided what the legitimate use of the tag is.

I actually really enjoy the a_cat_is_fine_too tag, as the very situation it implies, which is anything x small cat-like is awesome.

I think the "-set:" bug occurs when a post belongs to multiple sets. The search stormwind -pool:1 gives a similar bug, and the duplicated post turns out to be part of two pools. The search id:597344 -pool:1 results in three copies, and in fact the post is in 3 pools! I can't confirm this also causes the "-set:" bug, since I don't have access to all the sets (including non-public) a post belongs to, but hopefully this helps solve the issue!

Like I said, I like the big cats that pop up in that category too. And the anthros that are high percentage cat.

I cleaned most of the less "joke tag" posts out of it, I'll have to take another look tomorrow when I haven't been staring at a screen for <insert number of hours here>.

After pruning it down to 23 posts, 8/9 of the ones in your set were still tagged with it. At least we happen to agree on the meaning. :P

This might be enough to leave the tag as is, but I'll let others give their input first.

Updated by anonymous

It's just not the same. Most of the good stuff is gone and there was some really good stuff collected there.

We could disambiguate it (was likely mentioned already)

*_(disambiguation)

actual examples could be tagged with *_(meme)

There's nothing else to put into this tag, though. It's either the meme or it's not needed.

Good attempt, but now it's up to 81 again and most new posts shouldn't have the tag. And looks like it's been cleaned a bit in the past months, so it's been tagged a lot more than that.

Maybe it'd be best to move the relevant ones under a_cat_is_fine_too_(meme) and then just alias this one to feline.
