No, I knew necklace was a thing, but I thought that was already Aliased to Jewelry. So I just went straight to the point. - So yes, it IS self-explanatory. (So is spelling "self-explanatory correctly.)

necklace implies jewelry, but it's not aliased to it. That's why the alias of neckless → necklace makes sense (plus, a surprising number of users seem unable to spell this word).

However, "neckless" can also be used to describe a character with no visible neck. I propose an alias of neckless → neckless_(disambiguation), which will point to either necklace or short_neck. It's easy to clean up and it encourages bad spellers to go back and fix the error.
