Topic: a question about tickets

Posted under General

Why are some tickets marked "Confidential" right away?

Do admins mark them as private, or are they admin tickets or something? Just wondering

User and PM complaint tickets hide the details to everyone except the submitter and admins.

99% of the "confidential" tickets are probably me as of late lol, most of them are user reports when i need to point out problems.

I've always wondered why, as a site that prides themselves on the transparency of their actions, user tickets are confidential and comment tickets are not.

Because comments are already public, whereas user complaints could be over non-public actions?

Theoretically, user complaints are confidential to prevent backlash and retribution from the person being reported, but the same could easily happen from a comment complaint. And, if someone is guilty of PM harassment or basically anything else they can be reported for in a user complaint, the entire site knows about it when their infraction shows up in the User Records.

Just find it funny that that's the one thing they're opaque about on the site.

But if the user complaint is overturned, nobody's reputation was dragged through the mud for nothing. A comment complaint, everybody can see the comment, and can see if the complainer is bullshitting, thus no reputation damage if the comment was fine. User complaints would involve records that users don't have access to, so they couldn't make a good judgement.

Because we don't feel that users should be forced to give up their right to privacy just so they can report a problem with another user. But if it's already a public matter (like comments), then yeah there's not much sense in hiding anything.

The way e621.net does it is still far more transparent than any other furry art site, which often don't let you see tickets or even the ticket queue at all. Making the ticket queue publicly available is one step we take to ensure users can see how much attention we're giving to tickets and if we're behind or not. But just because we make the queue available doesn't mean you're also allowed to dive into personal matters within the tickets. :P

When I first read "tickets" I thought about somebody selling/buying tickets in here

Like takedown requests, some can be because personal reasons (AFAIK)

Yup, exactly.

This site is so transparent I can hardly see it.

Well, if you'd stop using that clear monitor...
