The first is a form of the second. I had been looking for post #744934 for quite a while before I used a different tag to find it.

Mega evolutions are treated as separate Pokemon from their base forms.
If you want to search for all versions of a Pokemon, generally *[Pokemon] will work.
For instance, *lucario should return images involving either Lucario or Mega Lucario.
