Topic: Movies you HAVE to see this year

Posted under Off Topic

I've seen a lot of trailers this year and only a few of the movies that I want to see. So much is coming out this year and I'm so excited for them XD

The movie that just shot up to my number 1 must see is Sausage Party (fucking love that name)

Trailer

PLEASE go see this movie, it's what food fight should have been but so much better.

Also if you want, list any movie titles you want to see and why. Maybe I'll go see them too.

I don't like watching movies all too much, but being a history buff, that Birth of a Nation movie really caught my eye. I'll probably also catch Star Wars: Rouge One during winter break.

On that note...movies that you should pass on and wait for RedBox:

-Warcraft
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
-Alice Through the Looking Glass

Not the strongest contenders I have seen for a summer release, despite having decent trailers.

Movies I am hyped for:

-Assassin's Creed
-Star Trek: Beyond
-Ben-Hur
-Kubo and the Two Strings

Assassin's Creed because it got the video game movie formula right. Real actors preforming real stunts, with CGI enhancing rather than what Warcraft did with relying almost solely on CGI.

Star Trek: Beyond looks like a refreshing, gritty take on the franchise that promises to finally push the reboot into a new saga of films.

Ben-Hur...I watched the original every Easter for years as a child. Despite it's age it was always an epic masterpiece of both storytelling and action. I just hope the remake does the original justice.

Kubo and the Two Strings from Studio Laika with its refreshing blend of CG animation tied to a claymation style of action looks like a strong animated contender. It also doesn't hurt that the film has a fresh take on the standard hero plot with interesting characters and their abilities.

Deadpool
Sausage Party

That's all I'm interested in.
And, no, I haven't watched Zootopia.

I forgot about this movie and it did have me intrigued when I saw the trailer. Not sure how that's gonna translate to a feature length movie though. On the other hand people who have watched it seem to really like it.

I've seen so many movies in the theaters these past few years that I have difficulty remembering most of them offhand and likewise which movies I'm looking forward to. That's because we've been catching a movie nearly every Tuesday for "Cheap Tuesday" or a different day for a year now, and we've been taking chances on many action-oriented big releases for about four years.

Keeping that in mind, Sing Street was the best, most enjoyable movie experience I've had in years, probably going all the way back to District 9 and The Dark Knight. Birdman came close to that esteem. For the sake of comparison, I thought Zootopia was just okay, Star Wars was like a bad dream, and Deadpool undermined itself too much for me to enjoy. That should alienate me from just about everyone... again.

As for upcoming releases I'm looking forward to, Star Trek: Beyond has what seems to be the right people working on it this time, Suicide Squad has potential, and there's a new Jason Bourne (2016) movie coming with Matt Damon as Bourne and Paul Greengrass directing again. Still, I hold that any movie can be surprisingly better than it should be while never underestimating Hollywood's potential for failing to deliver.

On a personal note, FUCK J.J. ABRAMS. pretend that's rainbow-colored

i watch movies when i happen to come across or hear about one i might like (not often in other words). and when i do watch them, i prefer watching alone without any audience commentary. all it takes is a few random and/or dumb comments and the whole thing can be ruined for me. -_- so not cool

tried that a few months ago when my aunt first got her blu-ray player. everything was going fine until the comments and questions started. from there it was "wtf? how can it be so hard to understand something so simple (yet admittedly complicated)?" (i don't remember the title of the movie in question. will check later so this line doesn't sound so confusing.)

currently i mainly want to see that new x-men movie. finally, a movie with one of, if not, the greatest enemies the x-men ever went up against: Apocalypse, the original mutant whose power was immortality. think i found a download of it but i haven't bothered to try said download yet. heres hoping it turned out good. :)
