Topic: on incest tagging

Posted under General

i wanna start a thread about incest. but like, tagging.

firstly, i see a lot of posts tagged as incest because the characters belong to a show or other media in which they are related but also look nothing alike, or at least don't look alike enough for an outsider to discern incestability-

(there's a lot of these, but people tend to get pissy when i don't source what i'm talking about)

obviously i'm not including images in which the characters who look nothing alike state in the picture that they're related, i.e. "oh mom" or "good job brother!"

i started this topic just to get a talk going on how strict we should be with the incest tag. me, personally, i'm against it unless it's stated within the image...

...or when the characters shown are similar-looking enough to reasonably be related. (post-post edit: i mean like, exactly alike)

side-note, this has got to be the weirdest thing i've put effort into typing.

A timeless issue

It's been discussed more than once, too

Of course, that consensus alone doesn't mean they should keep things the same forever. Decisions made so long ago aren't set in stone. Just might be worth flipping through that thread to get an idea of why the rules they have are in place.

in the second thread you linked, @char said

> At the moment, honestly the best answer I can give is that mainstream cartoon characters are free to be tagged with "incest", but "furry-created" characters need to have some sort of feature within the image (or comic) that establishes that the characters involved are related. This could be one of them calling the other by a name such as "mom", "dad", "brother", or "sister", a comic where you see one sibling sneaking into another sibling's bedroom, or so on.

and i absolutely agree with that, stated way better than i did
