Primarily for trading (both mons and items), trade evolutions (e.g. trading a Doublade just for it to be traded back as an Aegislash)... pretty much the standard stuff (even battling, although don't expect much of a challenge at first since I suck at it).

If you have both games you can trade with yourself using the GTS. Just deposit a crapmon like poor Wurmple, then ask for your Pokemon with specific details then go to your other game and find your own trade. Pretty stupid but that works

isn't that the same as what people would do with older pokemon games? 2 gameboy's + 2 copies of the same game + 1 user = single player trading between games.

Nope, since you only need one system here. Only possible with the Internet GTS, but that would only have appeared in gen4 and later games, however only gen6 made it viable because before you would only be able to see for a maximum of 7 people at a time when searching for a Pokémon (Making the GTS a joke and impossible to use with all the trolls around) but in gen6 everyone is shown

By the sound of your message it seemed it was mostly for evolution trades and maybe item trading. I wouldn't mind for that but sadly my 3DS is in repairs for now, so I'm stuck with an outdated DS Lite and my 3DS games don't fit in them :c
