Implicating feathered_crest → crest
Link to implication

Reason:

Makes sense. Is anybody against reptilian_crest? Is there a more specific way of describing it?

Are there any other types of crests?

Should crest be disambiguated instead, to avoid the possibility of users tagging the part of the hip bone that's called crest?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

There are lots of types of crests, it's a pretty generic word for "things that stick out", it can also be an object put on-top of your head IIRC. But I don't really know the state of crest at this time to comment much on disambiguation nor implications.

membranous crest, maybe also bone crest for when it's the exo- or exposed skeleton, and... what about humanoids with crests? Skin crest?

Wouldn't membranous_crest work for "skin_crest"? Is it worth making a distinction? Which is also why I'd argue membranous_crest would work better than changing it to reptilian_crest, unless we're talking about some term specific reptilian term. There are also "sails" i.e. a "back crest" commonly found on some reptiles, but at which point "sail_(feature)" would probably be more appropriate anyway. Also we do have bone_crest it's used both for large skull protrusions as well as smaller "ridges".

Some various examples just for reference/discussion
