Answer: Because characters are very often species-swapped, the most common probably being a furry/pony character depicted as a human.

Some characters also have their species as part of their formal, trademarked name, such as Sonic the Hedgehog. Thus, the name stays Sonic the Hedgehog when he isn't actually a hedgehog.

Many people who make such topics honestly don't know why the aliases are not made.

If this drops the number of superfluous "WHY NOT ALIAZ DIS" topics by even 10% (which is quite possible) then it's a worthwhile investment, especially as I already made the topic for you.

A janitor / admin could just lock each topic and say forum #218332, instead of a long discussion about "OKAY THIS IS WHY..." every time

But yo I do realize that once the thread is locked, it will never be highlighted again when other threads update, which can cause people to ignore it not unlike the advertising thread by people who post advertising; or the more practical argument that those threads aren't bad, it offers the person to learn through others telling them the mistakes.

If you can spare me the time to do the litter and type up the list I had planned, I can provide a entire scenario involving a character -> species request that will be helpful for the person who made the request, because said character is often tagged with a second incorrect species.

There are a lot of alias and implication threads. This might stop a few users from creating a few threads. It might not be worth the one less thread that appears on page 1.

Probably better to add text to the suggest an implication page. Or maybe the system prompts the user to confirm when they try to suggest an implication from a character: tag to a species: tag. Heck maybe even make such implications admin only.

That won't stop all newbies, but it'd probably be more visible to them than a sticky.

There are a bunch of forum guidelines that might be useful on a sticky, imo
