Topic: Original "original" character

Posted under General

I've recently noticed that character frey who's clearly based on a Quilava, with the addition of a strand of hair and the back stove being turned off at all times.

From my knowledge of the artist, he is/was used to draw Quilava very often years ago, and I'm sure you don't need to have a perfect vision to see the character is basically a Quilava OC.

Someone kept removing my tagging, so I proceeded to get some background info just in case the character is actually a real one from another series or something, but I couldn't find anything other than all the Pixiv uploads being tagged as Furry, Frey and Original Character. However on one of those Tumblr source, you can clearly read that they're having some fun at Mt. Silver as one extremely big unsurprising coincidence (Actually it seems to be Mr Silver, but the translation coincidence still makes it pretty funny).

Not that it matters anyway because of the obvious and very simple to understand TWYS rule . With that in mind, and by how the character pretty much actually is a Quilava, I would imagine that even though the artist doesn't claim it to be a Pokemon OC, it still should be tagged it otherwise, but the website is full of surprises at times so I may be wrong. So instead of continuing to edit those posts back, I'm instead asking you guys what should be done for that

I also found a character sheet, it looks.

Has a bunch of tags that seem made up and I have no clue what they are used for, but they all link to many different OCish Pokemon character sheets. Coincidence, maybe ?

In situations like that (tagging/rating "wars"), just flag a comment on the post to signal to the moderators and explain that a mod needs to make a decision. You can make your own if you need to. It's usually more efficient than PMing a mod. If it's the one user, just flag the user ("report user" on the profile) with an explanation.

That's pretty much exactly what the moderating tools are for.

That's actually what I was going to do first, but I, "feared", just a little, that in this world of triggered people, that the person would take it really badly as harassment, and thought it would be a better idea to get an insight of what should be done with others rather than just me and him.

Also, he still keeps removing the tags nonetheless. I do want to put them back but at that point it just feels like I would be doing that to grind my "e621 tag edits score"

Correcting tags is not grinding them, IMO, it is instead often appreciated. Adding minor, minuscule amounts, and en masse ( like literally just fur, teeth, or other incredibly simple ones ) tags is "grinding" them, again IMO.

Publicly calling him out here is more likely to get him to claim harassment, actually.

I'd have to directly contacted him on the post and tell him to stop removing the tags if I wouldn't have done a forum post, done without being explicit on who's doing that and without actually calling him out, only ask what should be done with other people than just me and him just to be sure if I actually had a point or not. I don't think what I did is calling out anyone for the matter.
Both the posts and forums are public anyway, so me posting here wouldn't have been that different, even though that if I would have not used the forum, it would have sounded even more likely to be calling him out

Just use the "Report" button in their profile. That will alert the admins and moderators and they'll message the person to let them know if what they're doing is wrong.

Yep. These kind of things belong in the reports, not on the forum.

So if I get this well, even if I'm not 100% sure about a situation, the best way to deal with it is to just report someone and not ask anyone else for some feedback to be sure that I'm not doing something wrong and I may actually be right ?

That sounds quite excessive, but alright I guess

Right. Either that, or contact an admin and ask them.
It's better than calling out someone in public, or participating in tag wars. Especially when the matter has already been handled.

Newbie mistakes can be overlooked, but we expect better from long-time users.

Issue is I never did this, Tag wars you call this. I added them, once, then saw them being deleted, so what I did was to actually research and see if there was some insights, as if the character actually is legitimate and not a Quilava. Once I saw they indeed should be added, I added them back later on, once.

And like I said, I then noticed that it really just seems to be a Quilava OC, and I wasn't sure at all of what I should be doing then, and only asking this one user wouldn't do much since he was persuaded it wouldn't need them. That's why I did a forum post, to ask what to do in this particular instance, not to post "This guy is an idiot he's removing tags they should stay"

I didn't know that Report was meant to disturb the staff about a situation you aren't sure about, and not to, actually, report a bad behavior or something similar. Maybe posting a forum post and ask for insights on something you're not so sure about wasn't the best idea, but calling that something you wouldn't expect from a long time user is, kind of low

And then several others did the same, resulting in back and forth mess in the tag history.

If you see someone removing valid tags, report it and leave it be. At least until a verdict is reached.

Oh right, I think I get where you're at. You mean the second part where I said that he removed the tags again, not the actual process of me asking for more info on what should be done. Then yeah, that's true, I should have actually reported that instead
