Topic: What's in your Everyday Carry? (EDC)

Posted under Off Topic

Tell us about the things or tools you carry and why.

There are days where you are trying to fix something of value and you don't have the tools to take care of it. Luckily for you, you brought a multi tool and saved the day.

The day you get mugged and realize that you have the right tools to stop that asshole from trying to mug you. Congratulations! You brought the right tools for the job.

This topic is to inform and prepare future furs to take repercussions for certain unwanted situations, and to also give insight into what tools depending on your situation you should bring with you.

(Make sure you check all laws (local, state, and federal)in regard to what tools/weapons you bring with you.)

*Please try to be honest about what you actually carry.

And no, a Sonic Screwdriver is not real. It does not count.

They could be carrying a toy one.

I carry wrenches when I ride my pushie. Other than that, wallet, phone and keys.

This is what is generally in my pockets

Wallet
Fake wallet
Keys with assorted shit on them
Bandana
Spyderco tenacious with custom finish on blade and custom scales
Preon 2 light

The blade gets rotated with about 10 others regular, I'll also swap a multitool in there every now and then.
Sometimes I'll also carry a small multitool also. If at work, I just carry the small multitool. Yes, they do see use.

If I'm out during the day, I don't carry a light becuase that's retarded, but I'm a night owl mostly and work nights so I do carry one then.
I have several lights but the preon 2 is best for edc, it's about the size of a pen. Several different lumen modes and several strobe patterns.

Bandana has seen use as everything from a snot rag, to napkin, to cover, to mask and many more. Handy thing to have.

Keys have a bunch of semi useless shit that I'm too lazy to take off. The paracord braid males it easier to grab out the pocket or helpme find my keys. The tweezers are USEFUL AS FUCK. Seriously, not joking love those things. The Fenix e01, (little key light) battery died months ago and I haven't replaced it yet because I hardly use it.
The Gerber shard sees some very slight use as a philips and a prybar. It keeps falling off cuz the karabiner broke.
P38 is no longer on there, completely useless and kept stabbing me with its blade, fuck that.

Overall I don't carry a bat belt and even I think I carry too much junk in my pockets. My car has more stuff in it, but it's more for road side emergencies and if i ever find myself at a sudden stay at a hotel or friends house. I try to keep away from surviva shit but I still keep some for the "just in case" in me. Mostly just few different forms of signalling, shelter and warmth. (Matches, tarp&blankets, flares and a few other shit)

Longest post I've ever made on the forums.

My general rule of thumb for key chains is
"If you can't make a closed fist, you need to lighten the load. This inudes other keys and those stupid membership tabs that people have on their keys.

I don't put my car key on my key chain, becuase it's too fat and I don't like too much shit dangling from the ignition.

Yes I am on my phone right now

What's with the sudden interest in peoples pockets?

Anyway here's what I listed in the blips zippo, smokes, house key with monkey fist, wallet, bandana, and 12 knives sometimes more.

The bandana is pretty useful actually it ties my hair back when I'm working I tie it around my face when it's cold or if using rotary tools when I'm making jewelry I have to be pretty close and the bandana keeps all the dust and stuff out of my nose and mouth then if it hot out I can wet it and tie around my head which keeps me cool for a little while and lastly I might be able to put a rock in it and hit somebody.

The knives mostly decorate my belt but I have a variety of blades which get some use such as a razor blade for really sharp cutting a serrated blade for sawing a fixed blade for heavy use and ambidextrous and assisted open knives on my left side in case I can't use my right hand.

Yeah. Sorry. I don't mean to be nosy. I am just curious as to how people look at EDC.

I'm trying to think of a penis pun related to "is that a gun in your pocket" but can't think of any.

I failed

Nah i was reading this post on edcforums about a dude using a whistle to help locate him in a fallen building.

I thought to myself "damn that's a good idea" and did it myself. It's fucking stupid but Im too lazy to take it off. I was pretty big into the whole edc thing years back.

So fug u twelve knife boy

Former Staff

Keys (about twenty), wallet, cellphone, comb, peanuts (for bird feeding). Boring stuff.

...I keep most of the stuff in my backpack. Batteries, GPS, bandages, flashlight, heavy-duty magnet, etc. But I don't bring that everywhere.

This is good advice. I ruined my ignition by having too much stuff on my keychain, and had to spend a pretty penny replacing it... after which point my car was promptly stolen. Fun!

Anyway. Keys, wallet, and pencils. Recently, I like to carry a Rubick's cube with me for when I'm bored too, but that's far from everyday.

My EDC is a key manager clipped to my belt with a retractable chain to the actual keys part (which is then clipped to a belt loop to stop it from dangling around). On the key manager I have all of my keys (analog and digital), 3 shopping cart chips, a USB stick, a 1" Swiss knife (knife, pincers, nail file, scissors), and a small lighter.
Past that I have my phone, a flip knife, a packet of tissues, a comb, and my wallet with a credit card knife, a pen, and an OTG USB adapter.

Also, if you make pictures of the teeth of your keys you give people the chance to make working replicas of those, just saying.

Ha, I have one of those too, completely stupid and useless, keep it in mostly for the novelty, did use it a few times when I was in school.

I've always wondered how one would fair sneaking one past airport security.

Also, if you make pictures of the teeth of your keys you give people the chance to make working replicas of those,

Oh wow it's nothing.

I once had one of those little credit card sized lockpick sets in my wallet, but I never learned how to pick locks so I got rid of it and another full sized Lockpick set.(bought a set of bump keys in their place, figured theyll do good enough job for me and their easier to use)

Nothing. Just nothing. If I go out cycling I bring nothing, not even my keys.

Omnitool (or as some people call the Swiss Army knife, but that is not exactly correct, and multitool is specific to the tool, singular): weighted handle knife, needle nose pliers w/ wire (and under same logic, bolt) cutters, Phillips head screwdriver & flathead screwdriver / bottle opener, and finally a LED light.

My type of knife, specifically in California, must not be larger than my palm and can be visible or concealed (While it does lock, it doesn't meet the standards of a switchblade), which is designed with a clip that is put over my pocket so the knife is safely inside said pocket. You can never carry a balisong (butterfly) opened knife, and yet they are IMO beautiful blades...

I'll ignore the common things other people carry to save text, but I'll also specify that I carry a first aid kit in the vehicle I was in, (contents and overall appearance to be linked) . As stated in another forum comment , I have studied BLS (basic life support) and have passed a class that granted me two cards, one for basic CPR and one for BLS First Responder. I highly suggest trying to get those skills as well.

Omnitools are fictional, plasma-construction wrist mounted tools. I even specifically excluded "Mass Effect" in my search but it just showed replicas for cosplay and stuff. Multitool, meanwhile, shows various different types, mostly in a pliers shape, but plenty that aren't, and even among the pliers shapes the bits come in different positions and shapes. Even lists disconnecting and interchangeable parts for customization in some of them.

Break up the prefixes. Multi- multiple. Omni- all. Multitools are more singular, they are limited to certain things. Omnitool, on the other hand, can be used for (nearly, since absolutes are *theoretically* always wrong) any scenario. I can do things from carving up ham to jumpstarting a car, and plenty in between, whereas the fishing multitool I have only pertains to fishing related things, from grinding the hook to make it sparkle, to gutting and cleaning a fish, to the universal screwdrivers that poles may use.

This is not to say that there aren't general-use multitools, just that they are not as general as the root may imply...

Usually, the things I always take with me when I go out are:

Keys
Wallet
Phone

Situational things include:

3DS
3DS charger
Flash drive
Mechanical pencil
Laptop bag with general laptop stuff

I don't carry conventional weapons because all the knives I do have are illegal to carry in public due to length (I think the law where I live is that blades longer than two inches are illegal in public).

Phone, wallet, watch, Leatherman with small blade, screwdrivers, can/bottle opener, and pliers, lighter, improvised first aid kit with bandages, moleskin, ibuprofen, cold/flu suppresants, naproxen sodium, and a couple small joint braces, spare AA/AAA batteries, phone charger, and a 32oz water bottle.

If I'm walking anywhere alone, in addition to the Leatherman, I'll carry a separate knife. Normally just a jackknife in my pocket, but if its really late, I clip a buck knife to my belt. And on the rare occasion I go somewhere -really- sketchy, a bowie knife, probably so I can pretend to be Crocodile Dundee. My state is pretty lenient on knife laws- only spring-mounted switchblades are illegal to own, and all knives are legal to open carry (even throwing stars and butterfly knives), provided its without the intent to harm. But I'll usually wear a long overcoat to conceal it, if its cold out. Even though its legal in my state, my university has bans on weapons carry, but quite frankly, after a close friend of mine was almost raped walking home less than 15 minutes after I last saw her, I don't give a damn.

When I turn 21, I plan on getting a handgun to keep in my car while working. I'm a fast food delivery driver over breaks, which means I usually carry a couple hundred dollars in cash, and I found out the town I work in is pretty damn sketchy after one of my former coworkers was found shot to death after a drug trade gone wrong. I plan on getting a fairly cheap, single-action .22 revolver, mostly just for target shooting in my backyard. My mom was a parole officer and supposedly still has her .38 special, but we can't find it, and we think our dad sold it because he's super paranoid about guns.

Everyday use:
Phone, wallet, and keys.

To school:
Phone, wallet, keys, pencils, pens, screwdriver, flash drive, ruler, Sharpie, notebooks, phone charger, hand wraps, and bike locks.

A wallet, my keys and a cheap-ass pocket watch in my pants pockets. Will add a blank gun in my coat pocket soon.

Why a blank gun? Because Germany's tighter-than-your-mom's-corset gun laws require you to have a small firearms carry permit if you really want to carry it in your pocket.

I love the mindset.

Thanks. Admittedly, it'll be awhile before I can legally own and carry a handgun. My dream gun is an M1911, but those tend to be pretty expensive. .22 revolvers can be gotten for less than 200, and ammo is cheap as well. I suppose it'll be a moot point, though, since about a year later I'll be commissioning in the military and get issued a gun anyways. One day, when I've got the money to spare, though, I want to find a vintage M1911.

Maxpedition Lunada with 10x4 bottle holder on side;
bottle holder usually contains emergency cola, which is swapped out for a Klean Kanteen with water if it gets very hot out.

-clean shorts, shirt and socks, and spare laces for my work boots.
-chewing gum, toothbrush and paste, and pitstick.
-backup sunglasses, and compact umbrella (I know, right).
-beanie toque and gloves during fall/winter months.
-Nitecore MH1A rechargeable flashlight, short USB cable, and Bushnell Solarwrap mini (USB battery backup, rolled inside of a film solar panel).
-multi-bit screwdriver and a compact multi-tool (either Gerber Dime, or Leatherman Wingman; both have saved my butt).
-used to have an ESEE 3MB MOLLE'd to the front shoulder strap, but kept getting stinkeye from police and security types, so had to settle on a small Gerber Tech Skin flip knife inside.
-cellphone pouch now MOLLE'd to where the sheath was on front shoulder strap.
-whatever book I am currently reading.

*Nobody gets firearms carry in Canada except LEOs,
and very rare cases involving working in remote wilderness areas

The Lunada gearslinger holds a lot of stuff!
