It keeps asking me for my phone number whenever I try to use it. It doesn't need my phone number.

Lol, I assumed a lot of people would know about it by now. It's a European social networking site that has mainly been used by Russians(or Russian-speakers).
Anyways, just wanted to ask questions about private groups and stuff if anybody knows.

What the hell, do they not know there are people who don't have cellphones? Why do sites always seem to ask for your number nowadays why do you need it, do you plan on selling it to fifty bajillion third parties to send me prank calls while I'm at work?

I actually contacted Yahoo about it, because while I had an old account without a phone number, creating a new one for my brother required one, and they pretty much said "If you don't have a phone you can't use our services."

Social media is just a risk vector. Russian doubly so.

yahoo keeps asking for my cell phone number, too
so i can recover my account if i lose my password
of course, they would never sell my phone number to telemarketers

I pretty much got shut out of my Twitter account 7 hours after making it because they refused to let me log back in without giving them my phone number, so I said "fuck that" and never used Twitter again.

They would be lucky to. It will be worthless since hackers will already have it.
