Topic: How does furries and otherkins relate to each other?

Posted under Off Topic

Hello everyone!

I really love subcultures and fandoms on the internet so I heard of otherkins a few days ago so I started wandering how do furries relate to them.
So what's the relation between furries and otherkins? Do they hate each other are they merged or what?

they overlap. i mean theres these guys who dresses as animals and have animal based personas and theres these guys who identify as non human things and/or believe that they have been non human in their previous life so its p obvious that there will be overlapping. and obviously theres also furries who hate otherkin and otherkin who hate furries.

As long as they let me be a furry, I let them be otherkins

You can be one and not the other. Both should be respected. I know a few otherkin, and we have no problem with each other.

Doods right, They're pretty much two sides of the same coin with some other coins toss in there for good measure lolz ╹‿╹)

The way I see it is as long as your group isn't physically hurting anyone, I have no place to judge ~ ‿ ~)

I'm both Otherkin and a furry, and I rather like being both of them. I know a lot of other Otherkin who are into the furry fandom as well. There's some hate, but not really all that much all things considered. You might get the occasional "purist" Otherkin who thinks that you can't be both at the same time, but those are usually newbies in that community who treat it like a religion rather than a personal thing.

Otherkin is a pretty silly thing IMO (with incredibly silly roots), but so is liking animal-head-people so...

they don't. if we start being associated with "otherkin" i'm gonna be awfully miffed

To deny any overlap at all is naïve at best. Like them or not, it's pretty hard to reject that there will be intersection, merely because of the shared, inherent concepts of interest between the two.

The same way we relate to Bronies, Trekkies, Whovians, and any other fandom that doesn't hate us by definition. Fandoms aren't mutually exclusive.

When you think about most religions require people to do and believe in, Otherkin and Therianism is pretty reasonable, when you look at some of the things that people get up to the Furry Fandom looks rather good and I'm glad to be associated with both.

You aren't exactly setting a very high bar by comparing this to religion. Just saying.

I like to think I'm the spirit animal of peacocks, not the other way around

A lot of otherkin are furries. Most furries, however, don't really have much to do with them. Furries tend to make fun of them in my experience.

I think just about anyone would make fun of you if they went around telling them you're a wolf or if you started barking for no apparent reason. Liking wolves and believing you are one are two different things.

Really?

I mean, oh yeah, you sure showed me. 9_9

Honestly, what do you expect? You're not being all that original for someone who fancies himself a free-thinker.

What does what I said have to do with being "original" or not? Furthermore, what does originality have to do with the validity of what I said?

The way you were so unimpressed by what I posted, obviously.

So are we done being antagonistic? Because this isn't going anywhere pretty.

You're pretty much the only one being antagonistic.

And I've seen that image macro so many times, it's pretty difficult to find it impressive.

If you have nothing of value to contribute to the thread, don't post. This includes antagonizing other users.
