Topic: e621 portscanning me?

Posted under General

There's no reason for e621 to be portscanning me correct? I've used this site for years and it has never portscanned me.

Just really confused but not sure if it was worth sharing but I thought "why not" - just thought in the off chance that something might be wrong with the site like its infected or something (I don't think so).

This is almost certainly you receiving TCP reset packets from the server as it expires your connections. So as you're using the site you're going to open a bunch of connections to it, and then when they expire, it's going to forcefully close them all. Whatever software that is, is likely interpreting that as a "port scan" for whatever reason. Since you initiated the connection, it's going to have a bunch of random source ports on your side, and it's going to respond to those random ports your computer requested it respond to.

Ah, that makes sense and the conditions fit the bill.

I did figure that there probably wasn't anything wrong but no harm in asking, learning something at the least.
