This concerns the news about tumblr raws (forum #235250). I would like to request that flaggers please let the original uploaders replace their own posts.

This a very recent development, and we still don't understand the full extent of this raw issue. Some users may not even know about it yet, especially those who don't frequent this forum.

Please wait a week to allow the original uploaders time to replace their own posts with better versions. A week should be enough time for people to clear their own uploads. After this time, it should be alright to flag other user's posts, since they should have had enough time to do it themselves anyway. Thank you for reading.

I'm sure some uploaders don't even come to the forums but the thought of this post is nice. I did mainly my posts as far as uploading goes. Maybe have a site notice since this is sort of important, front page being spammed with reuploads and lots of deleted posts in a short period of time.

I've been tagging some posts with bvas instead of updating them myself but the original uploaders may not know why it's tagged or how to access the raw image.

That's what the week time limit is for, to give them some time to find out about the situation.

Maybe someone should play messenger for a bit and PM the uploaders.

Maybe actually consider fixing the problem instead of waiting for uploaders to come up with a solution somehow? I'd suggest finally getting some way of replacing post image with a better version, retaining the old post ID instead of creating a new one.

+1 to stop mass re-uploading. The world will not come to an end if some images will stay for a month or two longer. It should be a suggestion for new uploads to use _raw at most.

I'm not certain if that's exactly possible with how the database is set up. It could cause a bunch of technical issues if it was attempted.
