Topic: What is your "job" on e621?

Posted under General

Hello There!

I tag pictures which are missing the anthro or feral tags everyday at 7 PM,
and upload feral dragons sometimes.

So what do you usually do on e6 (except viewing porn ofcourse)?
Upload pictures, edit tags flag posts, edit the wiki?

Artist who contributed his own work.

The one guy who's just there.

Resident Krystal fan who resents most of the fandom for being out-of-character.

Updated by anonymous

Not much, until recently I didn't contribute anything but I have a few pictures saved from my rule34 days that I don't see anywhere else so I started uploading those, but it's kinda boring so I'm uploading them intermittently.

Other than that I just waste time in the forum or blips and sometimes if I see a glaring mistake in either the tags or rating I'll fix it.

  • Argue a lot
  • Have a thorough understanding of several aspects of tagging in order to argue a lot
  • Chill on the IRC and prevent arguments, or argue when necessary
  • Bitch when the Flagged For Deletion queue gets too full just like right fucking now

i sometimes comment dismissively on various proposals

once i had lots of free time so i was on staff, but then i got a new hobby and had to step down

  • Throw your images into the garbage.

  • Doping/science outreach.

I upload nice doujinshi as soon as it clears the two year rule. Haven't done as many as it sounds, but the two I've done are huge projects in their own right. I'm also studying Japanese so I can help translate if need be. Long way off from that, though.

  • Social activity
  • Tagging posts that contain sex, since I have that blacklisted and nobody tags it
  • Upload things that are far better than anything I could do
  • Have fun (this is like the one place I feel welcome)

Promote artist's works here on e6 while building good reputation and ties with people on FA.

Tag, source, debate, create forum posts, and give advice on how to do the prior.

If you want a detailed list, wait until i find my morning face...

Bless you. Nobody does that anymore. It's all about favoriting things these days.

Hah, you can throw away my images! Not unless you figure out the password to my WordPress account.

... my super-simple, easy-to-guess, 14 character password.

I've gotten into finding artists that arn't on e6 or artist where only part of their gallery has been uploaded and uploading the good shit.
Also various tag corrections: Monochrome, greyscale & varients, genital tags etc

Updated by anonymous

I do whatever. I've got a big list of things to upload but I can't be bothered since that involves a ton of work and time.

Updated by anonymous

I repost a lot of images in better resolution and file size, then expand upon the tag list, usually with non-visual but important metadata like the year of creation, type of media, and hi_res/absurd_res where applicable. See: https://e621.net/post_flag_history?user_id=147515

But...

I'm also frequently questioned or snarked at for doing so:

it's not your fault tho

it's the janitors'

also lol'ing at the "or do you do them yourself" comment. If that was the case, it would've been found out by now. But your sources are legit.

You are a good motivation to find the best version of a pic. :D

I do that too, along with some comments now and then.

  • Improve my quick tags list to be more organised and complete (9 categories, 64 sub-categories and four to five hundreds tags at the time).
  • write wikis sometimes.
  • Suggest aliases and implications.
  • Analyze aliases and implications suggested by others users.
  • Tag (or at least try to) posts which are missing "pseudo_clothing", "mineral_fauna", "flora_fauna", "fungi_fauna", "muscular" and others.
  • Try to fix all tags missing in one post or another.

Sincerally I'm not as good as I wanted to be in any of these, but I'm trying.

Updated by anonymous

  • Writing tag projects on my profile page then never getting around to doing most of them.
  • Tagging old shit that no one cares about.
  • Upvoting images instead of favouriting them so no one knows what my favourites are.
  • Taunting people with a favourites link that doesn't work for them.

I have that problem with background tabs. I also have a folder for that, but that is more of an actual list for when I am bored...

Is procrastination a job? Because let's be honest that's what I'm doing here.

Maybe like once a month I drag my ass to FA to find something to post, sometimes even successfully.

Updated by anonymous

I source posts and add artist tags.
And I find preview versions and tag them with bvats
I don't upload much, but when I do, I ask the artist(s)/commisioner(s)/character_owner(s) for permission.

Updated by anonymous

complaining about certain topics and usually community service which, on e621, means the usual tagging (tag correcting/fixing/purging and alias/implication related stuff) and occasional uploading of content (google images is a nice source of quality artwork).

Fave certain things
Rarely do a tagging spree
Rarely upvote

Actual work: screening new users, slapping shitty users, running the Ticket Center and dealing with everyone's complaints.

Otherwise I draw but pretty much never post my work here.

I don't browse the site other than to check the stats of my own work.

I translate and add the "translated" tag to translated posts which don't have the tag.

I fix bugs and sometimes implement new features when time allows for it. Mostly I just use the servers to heat my pond.

Updated by anonymous

I discuss various proposals and try to poke holes in them / find better solutions.

Also for a time there was working on a few tagging projects but then apparently I hit some threshold where other users started taking up the mantle and their combined efforts have since dwarfed mine.

Also trying to be nice to people, and a voice of calm when things start to get heated.

Updated by anonymous

I post something once every blue moon and avoid real world responsibilities. Also lurk because I don't have much to say without making myself look like a tard.

Updated by anonymous

Almost every day I cleanup posts with "invalid_tag", "invalid_color", and "invalid_background". If it's an especially slow day, I'll tag some posts with "tagme".

Updated by anonymous

For a while I helped with Braixen/Delphox tagging. Nowadays I'm just some guy in the comments without an avatar..

Updated by anonymous

Upvote funny comments.

I'd tag more but the tagging here is already legendary and it's hard to find things to add. Also I'm hesitant about tagging something subjective or outright wrong.

Updated by anonymous

It's funny, because up until a month ago, I wouldn't have said that I have any job on e621. Even now, I consider it less of a job and more of a hobby to eat up my spare time. So for the most part, I just post art from artists who have personally given me permission to post art from as well as any other artists that used to have art posted but seemed to fade with time. Occasionally, I'll unearth some sort of relic that belongs on the site, but somehow escaped notice, including higher res versions of older posts.

As for tagging, I just help where I can. I'll check incoming posts and tag them when a thumb catches my interest or look up tagme posts and add as many tags as I can think of before removing the tagme. Soon, I'll be focusing exclusively on tagging for a while. *shrugs* Besides that, I don't really do much else. I'll upvote comments that I agree with or make me chuckle, I upvote posts even if I don't necessarily favorite them, and sometimes I'll even leave a comment on posts other than my own.

Like I said, it's more a recreational hobby than an actual "job". I'm just happy to contribute.

Lurking

Checking Takedowns frequently to see if artists whos art I enjoy are going nuclear on their galleries, and saving what I feel I like or is worth saving on my drive.

Missing # of entities search.

There are some things you may need to ask about (like plushies that look like characters), but a general rule of thumb is: absolutely no identifiable entity, like an image of only a chair or a mass of trees = zero_pictured; only one identifiable entity = solo; only two identifiable entities = duo; three or more identifiable entities = group.

To elaborate, if there is a difference between focused (obvious; ones in foreground) entities and total entities (both foreground and background; obvious and off to the sides), then use either solo_focus or duo_focus, following the same chart as above, and tag the total amount of characters exactly as the chart above (IE, solo_focus and group because one character is blatantly shown, and two more are off to the sides). There is not supposed to be duo along with duo_focus, etc., so if both the focus and total entities match the # for the chart, do not tag with _(focus).

I remove invalid tags (invalid_tag, invalid_background, invalid_color, etc.) almost every night and add tags to posts that need them. Very, very rarely I'll edit a wiki page.

but do you investigate to see what may have caused the invalid tag in the first place?

The most consistent thing I've done here is to leave comments.
I used to tag a lot but that went down the drain when I started browsing with my cell instead.
I'm on and off with using the Blips and the forum. I also leave my baggage around when I do.

used to tag and upload a lot but nowadays i usually hang around forums or chat via DMail a topic less suited for the forums comes up.

Current "job": adding notes on posts to correct grammar/spelling errors. Did nearly all of the posts of bbmbbf's patreon's requests.

I tried adding translations on some posts with spanish or portuguese text, but the note mechanics practically unables me to do so through my tablet or cellphone (can't change the note's size and placement properly).

I add a ton of tags to art with hardly any. It's like finding gold-mine to me.
