Topic: Happy 4th to everyone in/from the US!

well, we will where i live until the fireworks start going off. then we'll have to sit around and make a futile effort to calm down our largest dog who goes into a very bad panic attack whenever she hears anything like fireworks or a gunshot. so yeah, nice day till late in the afternoon up till at least midnight.

aren't inconsiderate neighbors great?

It's been a good day, but the fireworks are about to begin, which means I won't get any sleep for work tomorrow. Boy, I'm glad they legalized selling fireworks all the time for everyone for any reason here.

An explosion rocked my house a little while ago. I sent my friend from down the way who loves fireworks a message asking if that was him. He hasn't replied yet. Happy 4th!

Turns out the explosion didn't have his name on it. Made him ditch a date with that message though. Feels bad, man.

Having lived in Berlin for many years, fourth of July fireworks in the US seem tame by comparison. It's pretty much a constant whirr of ambulances throughout the night in some areas over there, yet the rational types who stay inside or observe from afar usually fare fine.

If you have issues sleeping, consider playing white noise or a field recording through headphones or speakers, as the baseline of sound will help mask the decibel levels of your surroundings.

Fireworks in Germany are legally required to have weaker charges, reducing the chance of self-injury. As a result, there's less regulation in place for civilians setting them off on New Years. This does not, however, prevent human stupidity, although cases of flagrant disregard for the well-being of others are handled on a case by case basis.

In short, people end up setting up and firing rockets from the middle of the streets from beer bottles (often after just having drained them). Although the rockets usually fly where they're meant to, the cheap kinds have careened into houses or backyards in the past, requiring immediate attention from firefighters or medical aid if someone is caught in a burning building or was injured by a blast.

I celebrated this day in style, and by 'in style' I mean by spending most of the day getting piss drunk.

Sorry. I hope you all had a great day too. :P

I only add that so not to have to hear the "but not everyone" cries later, as if they don't understand that i didn't mean "everyone" does.

Had fucking neighbors setting off M80's a couple streets away from me...didn't stop until 3 A.M.

And yes, a lot of people called the cops...at 2 A.M.

I know your pain, I have a nearby house / nearby houses, shooting guns and setting off fireworks (or worse, I'm not an explosive expert) year round. It's sporadic, but incredibly annoying since we have two dogs frightened by that.

You don't want to see how a quarter-wolf husky cowers in fear. It is seriously a saddening thing to see.

I feel bad for your dogs. I rarely hear gun shots, despite living next to East Cleveland (Poorest city in the U.S.)

Fireworks are illegal here outside of scheduled events so it was pretty quiet all day.

We get fireworks several times a year. The only thing worse than the constant booming sounds at 9PM is hundreds of birds collectively screaming out immediately afterwards.

well, the 4th wasn't too bad this year. no fireworks past midnight this year cause some severe thunderstorms came through with a ton of bright/loud lightning and thunder and rain. course, that freaked out our dog too but not as bad i think.
