Topic: Tag Alias: flip-flops -> flip_flops

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I would argue that sandals would be a better alias-to for both versions. The wiki entries for sandals and flip_flops are the same thing.

(I found this after I tried to submit a flip_flops->sandals alias, and was denied by the forum software.)

Flipflops have no back to them, sandals do.

Flip flops? That's the american term for thongs, right?

A thong is something very different here in America.

How about pluggers? They probably ought to be aliased as well.

Yeah those look like flip-flops alright.

Flip flop is a type of sandal, more specifically a sandal with two straps (or a single Y-shaped one) conecting both laterals to the space beetwen the big toe and othres toes, also haven't additional straps around the heel.

I think the implication flip_flopssandals would be a good idea.

Hmm. Looking into my dictionary, Sandal does seem to be the vague-er tag, but then what do you call it when it has the additional strap along the back of the heel?

I have no idea.

Yep. One of many terms that cause awkward reactions when used abroad.

We call that a g-string. <insert guitar joke here>

Uuugh. I keep getting womens shoes when I try to search for types. Apparently, though, they're called "Sports Sandals." I guess because the heel brace allows them to stay on during sports or other high movement activities.

Approved both OP suggestions.

Figured I'd consolidate the flip_flop tags before anything else gets done, if it gets done.
