Has only been tagged for a single post, and that one might be better described as mottled_feathers.

consistency, mottled could also be described to fur, scales or skin but we dont, the meaning of mottled also isnt obvious to everyone were as "spotted" is.
As for only one post being there, that may change soon as i have noticed a good dozen posts that do fit under the tag.

With feathers, can they realistically just have spots? I would think that the "spots" would actually be entire feathers that are differently colored unless it's a Peacock's tail feather. Saying "MOttled" just sounds better to me.

To reiterate not everyone knows what mottled means and would be inconcistent. As well as spotted still being proper for what it's tagged for. Spots arnt always perfect circles.
