Topic: Sumi's Artwork on Twitter Disappeared.

Posted under Art Talk

When I went to Sumi's Twitter Page last week, I was shocked to find that all of his artworks suddenly disappeared quickly. He did re-upload one of his deleted pictures eventually, but still...

The reason for his artworks' sudden disappearance is unknown, but I found some of his older tweets, presumably about the deletion and e621 respectively.

it seems a month cannot go by without a famous artist having their work disappear. it is fortunate this website acts as an archive for such things.

"Because it was reprinted to e621 without permission it will be deleted."
Something about cough drops and marijuana.

Seems like the people who originally uploaded his work never asked.

and i suppose the administration of this fair website will deal with the artist's takedown notice very soon.

Assuming he can figure out the Takedown page. He took down his own Twitter, which suggests he cannot.

Bing's auto-translation suggested the opposite of what I got: "Since it was posted to e621 without permission, it's okay to delete this," which would suggest he wants to keep it here and is basically just performing some spring cleaning on his Twitter.

Here's mine from one of Sumi's tweet.

"When you turn off the picture, the foreigner is honest."

I used Bing Translator too. It may not be accurate, but I guess "Turn off the picture" means deleting the picture, right?

Wait. Aren't we foreigners too?

Speaking of foreigners, here's another one of Sumi's tweets involving the foreigner.

"I'm so [upset] that I'm putting [watermarks] on my images [to prove they aren't the Foreinger's]"

Boy, I cannot get much out of the last bit, so there's a lot less context and a lot more straight up guessing. Jisho is reporting that the word I guessed as being "Upset" is actually "Photographic Negative," however I can't make sense of the sentence if I use it that way. "Watermark" was actually a computer icon, as well, so I wonder if he's making a joke out of the statement and using slightly improper words to make it a pun.

A long shot, but perhaps "photographic negative" is more of "exposure"? As in "I feel exposed/vulnerable"?

Possibly. He seems to be fond of using slang, and Jisho's no good with dialect. Google and Bing wind up coming up with completely different results from anything he says.

What I was thinking or anyone with language knowledge. There's literally one sentence which gets completely differend meaning when using differend machine translator.

Also their pixiv account is already essentially clean and there are other boorus mirroring some of the same content.

"I wish for a world where those fucking foreigners following me wouldn't use my images as avatars."

Description's Japanese text says "I've given up."

unfortunately, not much can be done about that once an artist starts uploading to the internet. well, aside from the takedown and DDNP stuff on this site.

Would help if somebody could pm him on pixiv and explain the takedown policy.

And... He's gone... On Twitter...

Just look at his Twitter page and you'll see...

(At least his Pixiv page is still there.)
