Topic: Tag Alias: pkmn -> pokémon

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

-1. There is no need for such abbreviation, the suggestion isn't "bad" just seems unnecessary.
The 'pokémon' tag itself is rarely tagged directly, it is mostly added through implications related to pokémon species, characters from the games/anime or itens; in terms of searching that alias is also vain, since it would shorten the original word by excluding mere three letters.

Was gonna say the same thing.

-1, this would be the first step towards tagging with emojis. Typing pokemon isn't hard at all and short hand tags should be left for longer/hard to spell tags.

It is true, however:

I) This doesn't negate what I previously stated.

II) This possibly would be enough reason for an alias if 'pkmn' were tagged periodically, but this isn't the case.

III) After a quick search I found some artists with 'pkmn' in their artistic names (list ).

In some languages (like ancient egyptian) the supression of vocals while writing is perfectly possible and grammatically acceptable (but don't ask to me how someone could read like that, because I have no idea).

Continuing what O16 said earlier -

I checked the tag edit history and, believe it or not, `pkmn` has only been tagged twice, ever. Ctrl-F "+pkmn " (include a space after pkmn).

If it was tagged more frequently, I'd alias it to pkmn_(disambiguation) and force the user to tag either pokemon or the artist titles. If it does end up being tagged more often, that is the course of action that will be taken.

I like shorthand as much as the next guy, but it's not foolproof (artist titles) and futureproofed (Furrin's mention of pikmin comes to mind), so I'm gonna go ahead and deny this one.
