Topic: How do you deal with Jealousy? [Kinda Venting T w T]

Posted under Off Topic

For the peeps who say they don't feel it, I know your lying T wT)
We're all peeps here and at one point or another you felt this way twords
another peep who did something you did but, Better.

Been feeling this way a lot more often then I'm o.k with.
I mean I've finally gotten a leash on it with the pick me up
"Who cares dood, There's always going to be a peep better
then you at something. Plus if you were the best think about
the pressure you would be under to keep on being the best! So
Just be happy being you, Not a star. Because when you are
one you just have to keep on shining no matter what. =T"

Got a bit side tracked, Sorry about that n_n;
Guess I'm just venting at this point.
Anyway, even after thinking calming things like that I
still find my self doing a this
every time I see a peep who ether: Has more tag edits/post,
Improves in leaps and bounds in art; Leaving me in the dust,
Peeps who can read and write words without anything slowing them down
and won't have a cringe attack later down the road when they relized they
misspelled 20 kagillion word with about 50 bajillion typos because
dislexia is a thing and it won't stop being a thing till the day you die.

It's sucks since I'm pretty much beating myself up over nothing/Things I can't control in the first place and I'm more or less devaluing the things I've done; Stripping any positive thoughts about
it away so I can replace it with all these negative feelings of failure and regreat of:
"It "This" really the best I can do, How can I ever match the skill of 'thatguyoverthere87'"

*Sigh* Anyway x2
Anyone know any good ways to stop feeling this 'This' jellous now and again. or in the least, ways to feel better after coming across a peep that does what you do but about 10 times better.

TL;DR
I'm Jelly factory and I need help/tips to be less jelly all the time.

What tricks do you do to feel less envious?

Only be jealous if they can make a career out of it.

Why do I get the feeling that you are confusing jealousy with envy?

In colloquial usage the two are indistinct. I use them differently, and consistently, but nobody else ever catches on.

all of Notkastar's posts are found poetry. i happen to think of them as the type of person we most need; endlessly sincere and honest.

harness the envy to become unstoppable force. like when you feel like everyone else is better than you, use those feelings to fuel your determination to become better than them.

I don't get jealous or feel envious of someone because I know that the peep did something to get them where they are at in the first place. Someone draws better than me? Cool, I'm glad that they practice their craft enough to produce good results. Someone is stronger/faster than me? Good stuff, they got great dedication to exercising. Etc, etc.

I appreciate everyone's talents, whether it's how many hot dogs a dude can eat in a minute or how fast someone can solve a Rubik's cube. And if I want to get on someone's level, then I do what I need to get there, not from pouting and hating on them.

Just do you.

Wow, That genuinely made me feel better about myself.
Thanks man. ◠‿◠)
Tbh you where one of the peeps I was talking about
being jealous of. Showing yup otta the blue and making waves,
Taking so much initiative in the site, reaching over
5 thousand tag edits in less then a year when it took me two to
get 2 thousand. T ‿T)
To be honest I won't be surprise if you become "Privileged" in
the next month or so ~ ‿ ~)

Dood I do try, It's not like I'm sitting on my buns doing nothing.
It's because I'm trying that i get envy/jealous/jelly. It feels like
a punch in the stomach and a ax to my motivation when someone does
the things I trying my best at with seemingly no effort.
Make me think What the heck have I've been doing all this time. Am I just not trying hard enough or do I just suck at this. ._.

Edit:
Crap hit post instead of preview n_n;

It does get confusing sometimes when people refer to "sadness due to a feeling of inferiority" and "fear of losing something to a rival" with the same word.

It's a little of both to be honest so I guess both words would work here.
I mean when it's not a single person I'm constantly comparing myself
to thinking. "Why can I be/do that?" because eventually from comparing myself
to the peep that does that I slowly over time learn how to do the thing I was
beating myself up over. It's just a general lingering sense of inferiority
to the next guy because I got this messed up idea through my head that.
whatever I do, Peeps will never ever Ever think of me more then then
a random annoying dood they come across that's bad at just about everything
compared to the next guy. not even worth mentioning honestly ._.

Not to say I don't being in this own little world of mine,
No exceptions because no one expected you to do anything
so you can only go up from here. Plus no one's watching
and the peeps who do already 'think' you suck so
I do my own thing without really caring about what others
might think about it. The the thing that really sucks
about this state of mind is that you become your own
worst enemy when you see those successful peeps from
the void you inhabit and think about what life would
be like if you where one of those peeps ya know?

Crap sorry about that dood, No idea where all that came from.
Guess I'm in a really dark place right now.
Probably shouldn't be sharing this on a forum,
Don't wanna bring other peeps into this feels zone with me ╹‿╹;)
Just wanted some quick pick me up tips to get over this
so I can get on with my day ~ w ~;

The world started with your birth and will end with your death. Everybody who disagrees with that statement doesn't see things from your perspective.

What does this mean?

You are the anchor of your own world, you could even go as far to say that you're the only thing in your world that really matters. If you take any object or person from your world and remove it the world would be slightly different but still exist. On the other hand, if the anchor shifts or breaks the entire world moves, or even vanishes entirely.
This opens the important argument: You are the most important part of your own world. Other people and their achievements matter little because they can never be you. You (should) matter to yourself because you will never be anyone else but you.

If you want to become better at something, the only thing that matters is that you get better than the you that went to bed yesterday. You do not have to get better than other people to make progress, you just have to get better than you were yesterday.

TL;DR: Fuck other people's achievements and accomplishments, focus on your own because only your own matter.

That's...actually some pretty solid advice.
Sorta taking a quote from auron to aid your point,
"This is my story" not theirs.

Huh. ╹ _╹)

Guess I really shouldn't be getting this hung up over someone else
biz since my life isn't a document on 'Thatdoodoverthere69"
eh? ╹‿╹)
It's about me and the things I do.

I didn't even read the topic, but I'll say my opinion anyway. For me jealousy is one of the few things that help me do things, it kinda improves your willpower. It's a bad emotion only if you use it to hurt others instead of helping yourself.
