Topic: .gif tag?

Posted under General

So, I want to get an admin's ruling on this.

Should we have a '.gif' tag? It would serve to separate usual animations from gifs of things, as opposed to an interactive game, or a short film if it was uploaded here.

Or it could end up being a redundant tag or something, I don't mind.

Try this

Bad link (404).
Entering 'type:gif' in the search field also generates a 404.
Which is interesting, and probably a bug, since type:jpg works OK

Not for me it doesn't, works just fine.
You using any custom script stuff?

No, although I do have NoScript installed (but it should already permit any e621 stuff.
Possibly a bad interaction with HTTPSEverywhere or another addon. I'll check tomorrow.

It's probably cloudflare (caching).

I tried changing the https in the url bar to http, and this successfully made it return results.
However the address returned to https when the page loaded. Would this be a sign of a cached 404 page?
(subsequently, visiting the HTTPS address works ok.)

Probably. I'm not 100% sure on Cloudflare's mechanics though.
