Topic: Minimum Quality Profile Picture

Posted under Art Talk

So, I was aking myself about "what are the minimum quality standards for an Admin"?

I wanted to upload a little piece I did to use as a profile picture, like some guy did a long ago. But times have changed, it may not be treated the same way.

Being very simple and minimalistic put it on a hard time, so I let you see and tell, it is suitable to use?

Notes:
1) I did research on the topic before, but the info I found was pretty outdated

The problem with minimalism is getting it to work and not look like unfinished wips or Junk, its not enough to just simplify or subtract the non-essentials. Im also not really a friend of that kind of color scheme you choose.

Well, I was following another page design / theme and pretty much worked fine there, no problems at all!
Yet curiosity reached out, and then this post happened. Also, by the colors, what can you suggest me? Any help would be nice

(thanks)

I suggest making the background color darker. The light grey and light blue blend into each other.

I wouldn't suggest uploading self-made pics just for the sole purpose of having it as an avatar. It can easily be deleted for the lack of artistic value and just doesn't meet the minimum quality standards.

But there are no rules against it, so it's a gamble to try and post one.

make the yellow bits less saturated (the current color is really harsh for eyes) and background darker (the character kinda blends in with the background). also i recommend putting more effort into the edge smoothness because its kinda bumpy here and there which makes it appear less finished

This. All avatars are still posts here so they need to fulfill requirements like any other post. So if your sole purpose of posting something is only for avatar, if it's crop or insanely simplistic logo like design, we usually hit delete so hard that our keyboard almost breaks.

Thing is that stuff from way back and even from couple years ago, had largely differend kind of rules which would be instantly denied if uploaded today. That's why you can see many avatars uploaded only as avatars and if you look up most downvoted stuff there is stuff like photographs, memes, ms paint, low quality edits and patreon logo censored imagery. Basically anything uploaded before 2015 that has been approved, was OK with that times guidelines, so there's no point of retroactively going trough thousands and thousands of posts manually.

As for the example image, that's still insanely simplistic logo style design, so even if it does have more details than most stuff do, the likelyhood of someone deleting it over approving is high. I can only say likelyhood, because that would go into that akward position that it should be deleted, but there's still artistic value behind it. The example of approved avatar: it was posted 2014 and approved by person no longer in staff.
