Topic: Question About Dark Humor

Posted under Off Topic

I know a lot of dark humor that doesn't incriminate against a race, sexuality or gender, so therefore it might not clash with the rules. Anybody have anything likewise? I need to know what kind of dark humor is allowed here.

Ones like, "What's the difference between a baby, and a pie?"

"Pies don't scream when you put them in the oven."

this joke is DEEPLY PROBLEMATIC, because you just have to replace "baby" with "jew" and it becomes an anti-semitic joke

But is that a REAL reason within the rules to get anyone in trouble? I read the rules, and it says not to insult people, but doesn't say much about dark humor offending others. Also, aren't gas chambers and ovens two different things?

There are also ones that sound slightly trivial to me, like "What's the difference between a pie, and your Mom?"

"The Baker puts less cream in the pie."

Then, as you know, there are also "Dead Baby Jokes",
like "What is easier to fill a dump-truck up with..? Dead babies, or bowling balls?"

"Dead babies.. Because you can use a pitchfork!"

These jokes I question as well... But I don't think they're bad enough to trigger anyone here.

A bit of a stretch. Never even made the connection myself. Kind of like censoring "darn" because it can be replaced with "fuck".

darn is the kid/safe version of damn not fuck.

as for dark humor. parasprite once told me about a movie that was on the topic of vaginal dentata that was supposed to be a work of dark humor. i'd rather not look into that movie though. then again, not long ago i found post #37758 which had female breasts with mouth where the nipples would be...and dicks in the mouths but given the artist, that part should be expected.

dare i ask if there is a penis form of this as well?

I've got a pretty dark sense of humor, which can cause some friction. The problem with dark humor is that it's like food: not everyone gets it.

when one says something with the intent to offend, one should not be surprised when somebody is offended.

You know what is luck?

When you get run over by an ambulance

When you try to hang yourself, rope snaps and you fall into a barrel and drown

Translated some from the top of my head.

Personally I enjoy jokes of dark humor, as long as it's not based on a specific thing that hasn't happened...recently (within 10 years). I honestly think 9/11 jokes are okay to make (but I don't make up such jokes myself) because it's been like 15 years since it happened, and that incident wasn't the deadliest of 2001 compared to other incidents around the world during that year. Plus, Obama got Seal Team Six to take out Osama 6 years ago.

I mean it's less a joke and more an anecdote, but did I ever tell you guys about the time my nephew got stuck in the washing machine?

Dead baby jokes are the laziest sorts of "dark humor" there is, and I really don't respect them.

Then again, I'm a big fan of puns, so many I shouldn't be too critical of other's tastes.
